A juvenile court judge ruled Friday that a 14-year-old boy should be tried as an adult in the shooting death of a Dale City woman.
Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Patrick D. Molinari ordered that the boy be transferred to Circuit Court to stand trial for the slaying of Angel Hudgins, 24.
The boy's attorney, Jerrold Negin, said he intends to appeal the decision, so the juvenile's name was not released.
Hudgins was killed Christmas Eve at a party at her apartment. The woman's body was discovered Christmas Day. The woman's 2-year-old daughter was found sitting by the body unharmed. The woman had been shot once in the head.
Police later arrested the juvenile and Russell Theodore Mason, 38, of Manassas. Both were charged with murder, but police later dropped the charges against Mason. Police said the juvenile, Mason and Hudgins argued at the party.
An unidentified caller told police about the shooting Christmas morning, several hours after it occurred. But the caller gave the wrong address, and police were unable to find the body.
Another caller directed police to Hudgins' address about 3 p.m. Police found the woman's body next to the family Christmas tree. Her daughter was watching TV as cold wind blew through a shattered sliding-glass door.
