First National Bank names senior v.p.

CHRISTIANSBURG - Fred L. Newhouse Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president/branch administrator of First National Bank.

Newhouse was senior vice president/branch manager of the bank's Radford office, a position he has held since the branch opened in 1988. He will be the administrative head of all the bank's branches and will have responsibility for bank policies, compliance and staffing needs.

Also receiving promotions were Bob Shelton, who is vice president/data processing; Reba Smart, assistant vice president/operations officer; and Brenda Woolwine, assistant vice president/accounting officer.

Director buys Rainbow Riders

BLACKSBURG - The new owner of Rainbow Riders child-care center is Kristi Snyder, who has been a director at the center since 1993 and is a graduate of Virginia Tech's early-childhood program.

Enrolled families and employees will remain in place, said former owner Lynn T. Hill.

Hill intends to teach at area colleges and provide consultation and staff development through her new corporation, New River Early Childhood Services.

Realtors honor Blacksburg sellers

BLACKSBURG - ERA Townside Inc., Realtors in Blacksburg has been named one on the top 100 franchises in the nationwide ERA system.

The designation puts the Blacksburg franchise among ERA's top 5 percent, based on production figures for sales volume and transactions.

ERA has more than 2,500 offices around the world. Each is independently owned.
