BLEVINS, Lonnie Benjamin, 88, of Chilhowie, died Sunday, March 31, 1996, in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was the owner/operator of Blevins Fix-it Shop, and was the oldest Snapper lawn mower dealership in Southwest Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Christine Blevins Surber of Marion; two grandsons, Lonnie Ralph Haga of Marion and Forrest Kendall Haga of Glade Spring, and six great-grandchildren, Anthony Ralph Haga, Joel Colin Haga, Anna Haga Torres, Michael Forrest Haga, Naomi Bradley Haga and Dakota Benjamin Haga. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, with Elder Daniel C. Blevins officiating. BOWLES, Geneva Belle, 85, of Roanoke, died Saturday, March 30, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil L. Bowles; one daughter, and two sons. Mrs. Bowles is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Richard Tyree, Phyllis and Calvin Cumbie, Sharon and Charles Powers, Kathy and Dale White, all of Roanoke, and Shirley and Calvin DeLong of Hilliard, Ohio; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. BROWN, Rev. Dr. Henry Dockery, Jr., of Westminster Canterbury, 501 V.E.S. Road, Lynchburg, died at the age of 93 on Sunday, March 31, 1996. He was a retired minister of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., having served churches for 52 years. His pastorates included Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, New London Presbyterian Church, Pisgah Presbyterian Church and historic Third Presbyterian Church of Richmond. In 1926, he married Jane Douglas Summers of Abingdon, who survives him. They recently observed their 69th wedding anniversary. Also surviving him are two sons, Henry Dockery Brown III and his wife Helen of Lowell, Mass., and Lewis Summers Brown of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church sanctuary, with interment in the annex of the Old Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Bernard Bangley will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Mr. James Thompson. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to the Endowment Fund to preserve the old South River Meeting House where Presbyterians also worshipped for 40 years. Donations should be sent to the treasurer of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lynchburg. Diuguid Rivermont Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

BRYANT, Drucy Halsey, 89, of Mouth of Wilson, died Saturday, March 30, 1996 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. She was the widow of James B. Bryant. Born May 9, 1907 at Mouth of Wilson, Va. to Lee J. and Anne Hash Halsey, she was a member of Fox Trinity Church. Surviving include her son, Louis J. Bryant, Independence; daughter, Carol S. Bryant, Independence; two grandchildren, Doug S. Bryant, Galax, Becky Capecci, Philadelphia, Penn.; four great-grandchildren, Sam, Molly, and John Bryant all of Galax, Andrew Capecci, Philadelphia, Penn.; sister, Virginia Reller, College Park, Md.; three nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 1996 in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Interment in Fox Cemetery. FERGUSON, Georgie Quaye Best, 74, of Natural Bridge, died Sunday, March 31, 1996 at her residence. Born Februa ry 22, 1922 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Henry W. and Inez McElroy Best. She was a member of the Ben Salem Presbyterian Church and the Ben Salem F.C.E. Club. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Saunders. She is survived by her husband, Samuel L. Ferguson of Natural Bridge; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann Saunders Patterson and C.L. Patterson Jr.; two granddaughters, Donna P. Karajanis and Deborah P. Jourgensen; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cameron Karajanis and Lindsey Jourgensen all of Cheyenne, Wy.; two sisters, Frances B. Anderson and Alena B. Sheppard both of Buena Vista. POE, Joyce Long, 72, of New River, passed away Saturday, March 30, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Carl Poe. She was a 60-year member of Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and a counselor for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She was a chaperone and band booster for Pulaski County High School. Survivors include four sons, Allan C. Poe of New River, Vernon M. Poe of Powhatan, and John T. Poe and Calvin C. Poe of Radford; three daughters, Glenna E. Poe of Radford, Kathy Nunn of Greenville, N.C., and Mary Lee Cox of Pulaski; one sister, Marie Pitts of Panama City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Glenn Edward Poe, David and Darrell Butler, Christopher and Morgan Poe, Marion Toscano, Raquel Marie Marino, Tina Bishop, Donna Brillhart and Elizabeth Nunn; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Toscano, and Amber and Christopher Butler, and several nieces and nephews. SARTIN, Barbara Lee, 59, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly Friday evening, March 29, 1996. She was born in Amonate, Va., a daughter of the late Elza Lee and Nora Margaret Burks. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark S. Keene, and Timothy C. and Susan D. Keene of Roanoke, and Benjamin P. and Karen E. Sartin of Princeton, W.Va.; a sister, Healanna Buckland of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Rene Burks of Bishop; two granddaughters, Kristen Kraig Keene of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Aleigha Mercedes Sartin of Princeton, W.Va.; four nieces; one nephew; two great-nieces; three great-nephews, and other relatives. SAUNDERS, Adah J., 84, of Roanoke, died Sunday, March 31, 1996. She was the widow of Robert M. Saunders, founder of Saunders Dental Laboratory. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Williamson Road Chapter #119, and a charter member of the Dig and Dream Garden Club. She is survived by one sister, Gladys Ma rtineau; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Janet Saunders, J. Michael and Janice Saunders, and Don E. and Sherry Saunders, and one daughter and son-in-law, Kathi and Wayne Pennington, all of the Roanoke area; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. SHORES, Raymond H., (``Jake""), 76, of Mocksville, N.C., formerly of Independence, Va., passed away Sunday, March 31, 1996 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. Born November 26, 1919 in Fries, Va. to William M. and Thelma Pugh Shores, he was a retired clerk of Martin's Hardware Co. and Sheffield Grocery in Mocksville, N.C. He was in the U.S. Army and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of Hardison U.M. Church in Mocksville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father, William M. Shores and two sisters, Mary Fowler and Irene Collins. SINK, Thomas Maurice, 51, of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, March 30, 1996. He was a retired conductor at Norfolk Southern. He was very active in sports and was very instrumental in starting Men's and Women's Slow Pitch Softball in the Roanoke Valley. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He attended White Rock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Maurice and Mildred McLain Sink. Survivors include his daughter, Kasie Renee Sink; sister, Linda Cheryl Thomas; brother, Johnny Austin; nephews, Larry Wade Thomas and Johnny Austin Jr.; stepmother, Evelyn G. Sink; aunts, Rosemary Harmon, Dorothy Gross and Tina McLain. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 1996 at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Steve Witt officiating. ST. CLAIR, Ruth W., 83, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 31, 1996. She was the widow of Joseph K. St. Clair Sr., a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church, and was retired from Smartwear. She was a longtime Red Cross Volunteer, a member of The Roanoke Times Womens Auxiliary and a member of the Roanoke County Woman's Club. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph K. Jr. and Doris B. St. Clair of Roanoke, and Edward L. and Debra H. St. Clair of Thaxton; grandchildren, Scott St. Clair of Roanoke, Todd St. Clair of Bland, Maria St. Clair Chittum and Nancy St. Clair of Roanoke, Derrick Rorrer and Leah St. Clair of Richmond and Patrick St. Clair of Thaxton, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Palmer of Goodview.
