Home sales in the Roanoke Valley declined slightly in March from a year ago, the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors said Monday. The group said 397 homes were placed under contract last month, down 1.2 percent from 402 a year ago but up 22.2 percent from 325 in February.
A total of 190 sales contracts closed during the month. On average, buyers paid 2.6 percent less than the listed price, and properties were on the market 90 days. At the end of March, 2004 houses were for sale, 678 of them added during the month.
