A grand jury has indicted a self-proclaimed vampire on 35 sex charges related to his activities with nine teen-age girls.
Jon C. Bush, 26, was indicted Monday. He is being held in the city jail without bond.
The charges relating to victims ages 13 to 16 are one count of rape, 11 counts of carnal knowledge, nine counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, eight counts of crimes against nature, and six counts of indecent liberties. Twelve of the charges involve one girl.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31.
The indictments were a relief to police, who have interviewed about 30 young people in the Bush case.
``Now we've got it on paper,'' said Virginia Beach police Detective Don Rimer. ``It's not just people talking to people. This is the first big step.''
Bush is the professed leader of a 30-member vampire ``family'' that police say required female initiates to submit to sexual contact with him.
