Students ages five through 19 will be bringing home school census forms Tuesday requesting names, ages, birthdates, parent's names and residence information. The census is required every three years according to Virginia school law sections 22.1-281 through 22.1-286.
The information will be used to determine the distribution of the 1 percent state sales tax money throughout the school districts. Parents are asked to complete the form accurately and return it to the child's school as soon as possible.
Children who do not reside in Radford and are tuition students in a Radford school do not need to complete the census form. These children can have their parents complete the form and send it to the school division where they live, even though they do not attend school there.
