PETTY OFFICER 3rd CLASS MARC SCHRAM, a 1990 graduate of Salem High School, recently became a plane captain while serving with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 120 based in Norfolk. As a plane captain, Schram is responsible for plane readiness and pre-flight inspection. He also received a letter of commendation in recognition of superior performance as a supervisor.
SEAMAN RECRUIT CASSIE M. MEYERS, daughter of Frank S. and Susan M. Meyers of Roanoke, recently graduated from Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego. Meyers is a 1995 graduate of Northside High School.
PETTY OFFICER 3rd CLASS LARRY W. ANGLIN, a 1993 graduate of James River High School, is on a six-month deployment in the Middle East aboard the USS Caron.
NAVY AIRMAN DWIGHT J. HILLARD, son of Dwight A. and Dot Hillard of Troutville, recently returned to Norfolk after completing a six-month deployment to the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia and to the Persian Gulf near Iraq aboard the USS America. Hillard is a 1990 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.
ARMY SGT. LEWIS A. TIPPIE, son of Delbert E. Tippie of Salem and Helen G. Tippie of Roanoke, recently received the Army Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of his duties. Tippie was a member of the 10-man and infantry trophy teams and the National Long Range Aggregate which won awards at the National Service Rifle competition at Camp Perry, Ohio. He is on the infantry service rifle shooter team stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. Tippie is a 1985 graduate of James River High School.
AIRMAN RONALE D. JOHNSON, son of Clinton D. Barlow of Roanoke, recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Johnson is a 1995 graduate of William Fleming High School.
NAVY HOSPITALMAN BRANDIE A. COLLINS, daughter of Linda M. Stone and stepdaughter of James C. Stone Jr. of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill. Collins, a 1995 graduate of Northside High School, joined the Navy in June.
ARMY SPC. CHRISTOPHER E. CHEAGLE, son of Albert H. Smith of Roanoke, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
PFC. KEVIN T. GRAHAM, son of Thomas D. and Linda S. Graham of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Graham is a 1995 graduate of William Fleming High School.
NAVY CHIEF PETTY OFFICER KEVIN M. WILHELM, son of Mark S. and Doris C. Wilhelm of Vinton, recently completed a six-month deployment to the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia aboard the USS DeWert. Wilhelm, a 1975 graduate of William Fleming High School, has returned to Mayport, Fla. He joined the Navy in November 1986.
PFC. RANDALL S. KAMINSKI, son of Ronald M. Kaminski of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Kaminski is a 1995 graduate of Northside High School.
SEAMAN RECRUIT MICHAEL R. BANE, son of Florine R. Bane of Vinton, recently completed basic training at the Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Bane is a 1992 graduate of Staunton River High School.
ARMY PVT. JOSHUA A. PENDLETON, son of Terry P. Pendleton of Roanoke, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is a 1994 graduate of Northside High School.
ARMY PVT. JACOB A. WILLIAMS, son of Catherine M. Williams of Buchanan, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Williams is a 1994 graduate of William Fleming High School.
SENIOR AIRMAN BRIAN D. PEGRAM, son of David E. and JoAnn Pegram of Roanoke, recently received the Air Force Commendation Medal. Pegram, a 1990 graduate of Cave Spring High School, earned an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 1995.
AIRMAN BRANDON R. CORNETT, son of James P. Cornett and Joyce L. Cornett of Roanoke, recently graduated from basic training with honors at the Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Cornett, a 1991 graduate of Cave Spring High School, joined the Navy in October.
ARMY PVT. JOHN G. HALL, son of Janet L. McMahon of New Castle, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Hall is a 1995 graduate of Craig County High School.
