People who receive calls from someone who identifies himself as an employee of the U.S. Postal Service should beware.
A Roanoke Valley customer recently complained to the postmaster's office about a telephone survey. The caller identified himself as a postal employee and asked questions such as "How old are you?" "How is your mail service?" and "Do you live alone?"
The postal service is not conducting any such survey, according to a postal service news release.
Postal officials advise anyone who receives a call like this not to give out any information and to ask for the caller's telephone number. If it is a scam, the caller will not give a number.
If you receive such a call, contact police, or call the postmaster's office at 985-8751.
