OBENSHAIN, Roseland S., 79, of Roanoke, passed away at her home Wednesday, April 3, 1996. She was the longest living member of Enon Baptist Church and a very faithful leader of the Sunbeam Band. She is survived by her husband, W. Percy Obenshain; a son, W. Phillip Obenshain; daughter and son-in-law, Loreili O. and Walter M. Martin, all of Roanoke; a sister, Mary Stone Le mon, Salem; five granddaughters, Robin M. Smiley, Lisa M. Martin, Lori M. Ritenour, Kimberly P. Obenshain, Kelli C. Obenshain, all of Roanoke; one great-granddaughter, Renee Smiley. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 1996, at Oakey's North Chapel with Dr. Conrad Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Tombstone Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel

POSEY, Harriett Ramey, 72, of Covington, died Wednesday, April 3, 1996. Graveside services 1 p.m. Saturday, Palestine Cemetery. Arrangements by Arritt Funeral Home.

PUCKETT, Doris Helen Ayers, 77, of Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, April 3, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, Nicely Funeral Home Chapel, Clifton Forge.

QUESENBERRY, Lillie Hall, 85, o f 1200 MacGill St., Pulaski, died Thursday morning, April 4, 1996, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born April 23, 1910, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Albert Hall and Minnie Graham Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Clifton Quesenberry, and two sons, Frank Hubert Quesenberry and Edward Walton Quesenberry. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ezra D. Quesenberry and Bonnie H. Quesenberry, Southern Pines, N.C.; one sister, Ruby H. Jones, Draper; two daughters-in-law, Betty T. Quesenberry, Pulaski, Elizabeth N. Quesenberry, Dublin; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Stanley Armes officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Friday after 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of the Presbyterian Church in America, 975 Memorial Drive, Pulaski.

SCHEMETT, Alexander Peter, 80, of Huddleston, died Thursday, April 4, 1996. Arrangements by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford.

SMITH, Michael Dewayne, 27, of Wytheville, formerly of Jewell Ridge, died early Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Bland. He was born in Richlands, a son of Loretta Smith Baker of Wytheville and the late Willie E. Smith Sr. He attended Richlands High School, was a five-year resident of the Wytheville area, and was a construction worker employed by Melvin Enterprise of Bland. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Baker. Survivors in addition to his mother are one sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Stacy Sparks of Richlands; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan Dale and Dianne Smith of Pearisburg, Timothy Lee Smith and Marcellia Horn of Wytheville, and Willie Edward Smith Jr. and Christine Edge of Waverly; two stepsisters, Jessica Nicole Baker of Dublin and Tina Johnson of Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Marie Smith of Milton, Fla.; four nieces, six nephews, and one great-niece. Funeral services for Michael Dewayne Smith will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hurst-Scott Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev. Grady McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery on Smith Ridge near Jewell Ridge. Pallbearers will be Pat Hurley, Dean Hall, Dave Mann, Buster Justice, Ronnie Carty and Kenny Newberry. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 5 p.m. Friday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.

VERNON, Pauline L., 84, of New Castle, died Thursday, April 4, 1996 in a Salem hospital. She is survived by three sons, B. Bruce Vernon, New Castle, David T. Vernon, Franklin County, R. Ronald Vernon, Florence, S.C.; two daughters, Patricia Thomas and Marian June Wade, both of Vinton; two sisters, Helen L. Lockett, New Castle, Betty L. Campbell, Newport; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Boitnott Funeral Chapel, with interment in Mount Zion Cemetery, Waiteville, W. Va. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and requests contributions be made to Craig County Rescue Squad, in lieu of flowers.

WILSON, Lucille Virginia Groseclose, 85, of Ceres, died Wednesday, April 3, 1996. Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday, Bethany United Methodist Church, Ceres. Arrangements by Newberry Funeral Home, Bland.

WOOLDRIDGE, Earl , 82, of Forrest, passed away at his home. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

WRIGHT, Garland C., Sr., of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 1996. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, having served in the past as Superintendant of the Young Peoples Sunday School Department and as a Deacon. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division. His career was in banking and finance. He worked for Seaboard Finance Company and in 1954 moved to Franklin, Virginia to open and manage a new office there. There was no Credit Bureau in the city and he was responsible for getting one established. In 1961 he transferred to Charlotte, N.C. and returned to Roanoke in 1963. He later became affiliated with First Federal Savings and Loan. A new branch was opened on January 15, 1972 at the Lake Drive Plaza and he was the first manager. He was later transferred to the Crossroads Office. He also worked at First Virginia Bank. He joined the Williamson Road Life Saving and Rescue Squad in 1952. He served on the Board of Directors and was a lifetime member and past president of the Old Dominion Packard Club of Virginia. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Bessie Clarkson and Samuel J. Wright, brothers, Samuel J. Wright, Clarence N. Wright, Earl T. Wright, and a sister, Elizabeth W. Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Neva Bailey Wright; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Bill Bowers, Denise and Steven Ingram, all of Dayton, Ohio, Donna and Joe Paradiso, Dana and Cliff Hodges, all of Roanoke; a son, Garland Clarkson Wright Jr. of Hawaii; a stepson, Terry and wife, Linda Woods. Also surviving is his twin brother, Gilbert and wife, Frances, of Lynchburg; sisters-in-law, Frances Wright of Midlothian, Mary Wright of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Brian and Phillip Bowser, Haley and Christopher Ingram, MarcoAntonio and Francisco Paradiso, Bryan Hodges and Lauryn Wright; mother-in-law, Bede Altizer Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Ruby Robertson-First Federal; a treasured hunting and fishing friend, Warren E. Trent, Sydney Robertson, Sonny Long, Boyd Shaver and Glen Lyle of the Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel by Dr. Ray Frazier and Dr. Conrad Johnston. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, 1996 at Oakey's North Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 9 E. Church Ave. S.W., Roanoke, Va. 240
