I-81 PROJECT STARTS MONDAY

Preliminary engineering to widen Interstate 81 will start Monday as surveyors begin to take ground measurements in Rockbridge and Augusta counties.

Surveying will begin at mile marker 180, the Natural Bridge interchange in Rockbridge County, and will extend to mile marker 229, just north of the Virginia 612 interchange in Augusta County.

Motorists are urged to use caution as they travel through the survey areas. The work is not expected to affect traffic or cause lane closures.
