VA. TOURIST DIES IN NEW ZEALAND

A tourist from Virginia was killed in a head-on collision on a highway south of Auckland, police said.

Gail Kaliszewski, 52, of Lynchburg died Wednesday in the accident, Constable Dave Morris of Tokoroa police said.

The woman's husband, Jerry Kaliszewski, 52, who was driving the car, remained in Tokoroa Hospital. He suffered a broken shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises in the crash, which happened when the couple's vehicle was passing a truck.

The driver of the other vehicle received minor cuts and bruises.
