ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

The Blue Ridge Parkway will begin an oral history project in June. The project will involve interviewing former employees and othes who worked on the construction of the parkway in the 1930s and 1950s.

``The taped interview will contribute greatly to support activities in park programs, such as interpretation and historic preservation,'' parkway superintendent Gary Everhardt said. ``We encourage family members of employees to share some of the stories told to them depicting the early years.''

Anyone willing to share information may call (704) 271-4779, ext 243 or write to: Jackie Holt, Curator, Blue Ridge Parkway, 400 BB&T Building, One Pack Square, Asheville, N.C. 28801.
