CHRISTIANSBURG - Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, will be keynote speaker at the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce's annual membership banquet April 18.
A social is scheduled at The Farmhouse at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7, followed by the program. The chamber will also present its annual awards for business and education; distinguished citizen; commerce; and outstanding service to the chamber.
Tickets are $25 for chamber members and $35 for nonmembers.
Chamber moving to new offices
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will move to new offices in May.
The new location will be 205 West Main St. in Christiansburg, about a block from the current office on West Main Street. The new site will be vacated by New River Community Sentencing.
The new office will be about 350 square feet larger than the old office, allowing the chamber to create a more professional office atmosphere, executive director Kathy Mantz said.
The new office will have a large reception area, two large offices, a small office, a conference room, two restrooms, a kitchenette and a storage room.
The office will get new carpeting, paint and a heat pump.
Parking will be in the rear, with a direct entry from the parking lot. Limited on-street parking will be available.

For fixing cars, he's one of best
RADFORD - Jackie Lawson, master service technician at Thompson Chrysler Plymouth on Radford Road, has been named one of the top Chrysler technicians in the country.
Lawson is the only master technician in Southwest Virginia to be honored. He is classified as a master in the Service Professionals Association, with certification in eight test areas.
Thompson Chrysler Plymouth was awarded a 1996 Five Star Award for Excellence by Chrysler, recognizing accomplishment in sales and service as measured by customer satisfaction ratings. Thompson is the only dealership in Southwest Virginia to receive the award. It has earned the award each year since 1991.
Grow professionally through seminars
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Small Business Development Committee of the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is offering free professional development seminars for chamber members.
The seminars will address the needs of chamber members, offering new ideas, practical tips and ways to improve efficiency and profits.
The chamber is surveying members on what topics interest them. Possible topics include administration and budgeting, advertising, and stress management.
The committee also is looking for seminar speakers and leaders.
