Anthony-Thompson

ROCKY MOUNT, VA. - Catherine Sue Thompson and William Penn Anthony, Jr., were married on Saturday, April 6, 1996, at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church.

The Reverend Dr. Joe R. Bryant officiated the double ring ceremony, assisted by Dr. William Courtney Hensel of Lexington, Ky.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dillard Thompson, Sr., of Ferrum, Va. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ella M. Jamison of Salem, Va., and the late Dr. Euell Claude Jamison of Rocky Mount, Va.; Mr. William Clifford Thompson of Ferrum and the late Cloey S. Thompson.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Penn Anthony, Sr., of Collinsville, Va. Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. George Cabell Joyce of Bassett, Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Virgil Anthony of Patrick Springs, Va.

A program of wedding music was provided by Miss Sharon Guilliams, pianist; Mrs. Winnie Mitchell, organist; and Mrs. Debbie Foley, soloist.

Miss Dee A. Flora of Boones Mill, Va., friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Ms. Hope J. Shand of Chapel Hill, N. C., sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary V. Pharr of Falls Church, Va., friend of the bride; Miss Cheryl A. Anthony of Richmond, Va., Miss Cynthia A. Anthony of Collinsville, Va., and Mrs. Mary Ellen A. Jochum of Temecula Calif., sisters of the groom.

Mr. William P. Anthony, Sr., of Collinsville, Va., father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. C. Marshall Thompson of Charlottesville, VA., brother of the bride; Mr. M. Craig Midkiff of Clemmons, Va., Mr. William D. Pace of New York, N. Y., and Mr. Timothy W. Ramsey of Glen Allen, Va., all friends of the groom.

Mrs. Virginia R. Thompson of Charlottesville, Va., sister-in-law of the bride, gave the scripture reading. Guest book attendants were Miss Sarah E. Hunziker of Hardy, Va., and Mrs. Jill H. Maddy of Roanoke, Va., both friends of the bride. Miss Kirsten Eustace of Charlottes ville, Va., niece of the bride, was program attendant. Mrs. Marie S. Flora of Boones Mill, Va., directed the wedding. The wedding portrait and photographs were taken by Barry Brooks Photography of Vinton, Va.

Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents at The Water's Edge Country Club in Penhook Va.

The bride is a graduate of Franklin County High School and Ferrum College. She was recently employed by Forsyth County Environmental Affairs Department in Winston-Salem, N. C.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Fieldale-Collinsville High School and Hampden-Sydney College. He is employed by MG Industries of Raleigh, N. C.

After a trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will make their home in Raleigh, N. C.

Bradley-Shaver

Sheryl Lynn Shaver and Robert Manning Bradley were united in marriage March 2, 1996, at 7:00 p.m. The candlelight service was held at the Highlands Club House in Winter Springs, Florida, with Father Stephen McNicholas, friend of the bride and groom, officiating.

Sheryl wore a full length candlelight silk gown with sequin and pearl accents. The maid of honor, Sharon Hubbard of Atlanta, Georgia, and bridesmaids, Marla Mundy of Roanoke, Va., and Angela Kempton of Orlando, Florida, all very dear friends of the bride, wore teal tea length dresses. Junior bridesmaids Jacquelyn Tara Sutphin of Roanoke, Va., and Ellen Sherisa Brammer of Mechanicsburg, Penn., nieces of the bride, wore floral print tea length dresses.

The best man, Ron Jones, and groomsman Skip May, friends of the groom, are from Orlando, Florida. The groom's party wore black tuxedos with black and teal paisley vests and tie s.

Flowers were white casablanca lilies, white and dark pink stargazer lilies, alstromeria, white roses, dark pink and white minuet roses, wax flowers and ivy.

A festive reception followed the ceremony and the couple spent their honeymoon in Hawaii.

Sheryl is the daughter of George and Shirley Shaver of Christiansburg, Va. Rob is the son of Bobbe Bradley and Gary Simons of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Both Rob and Sheryl work at Orlando Regional Medical Center and will be residing in Winter Springs.

Brown-Parcell

A marriage ceremony uniting Melissa Dawn Parcell and Shawn Andrew Brown was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 1995, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke, Virginia. Bishop James H. Cloe officiated at the service.

Maid of honor was April Brown. Bridesmaids were Karey Bishop, Keri Brotherton, and Shannon Walls. The flowergirl was Braylin Bayless.

Best man was William C. Brown. Groomsmen were Travis Graham, John Shelor, and Andy Bugg. Kasey Graham served as the ringbearer.

A wedding reception was held in the church social hall immediately following the wedding ceremony.

The wedding director was Barbara Falls. Program attendant was Lori Falls, with Krista Bugg attending the guestbook.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Parcell of Blacksburg, Va. She is presently attending New River Community College, planing a degree in Medical Office Systems Specialization. She works part-time in Dr. George and Richard Tate's Orthondontic Office in Blacksburg.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Terrie Repass and Mr. William Brown of Blacksburg, Va. He is employed with Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority.

After a honeymoon trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the newlyweds are residing in Blacksburg.

Buchanan-Mattox

St. Philip Lutheran Church was the setting March 30, 1996 for the wedding of Kimberly Dawn Mattox and Andrew Thomas Buchanan. The Reverend O'dell Smith of Banner Elk, N.C. officiated.|

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Mattox of Christiansburg, formerly of Roanoke and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar T. Cheek of Vinton, formerly of Moneta. She is also the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Mattox of Moneta.|

The groom is the son of Mrs. Susan E. McMullen and Paul T. Buchanan of Lancaster, Pa.

Jennifer Mattox Lindsey of Roanoke, sister of the bri de, was matron of honor and Gayle A. Farina of Northern Virginia was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tina Smith and Glenda Hinson, students at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

Alison Buchanan, niece of the groom, served as flower girl.

Joseph Cohen of Atlanta, Ga. served as best man.

Groomsmen were Jef Cochran of Atlanta, Steven Buchanan, Vincent Dastra, Sr. and Anthony Dastra, brothers of the groom, all of Lancaster, Pa. Vincent Dastra, Jr., nephew of the groom served as ring bearer.

The bride is a graduate of Northside High School in Roanoke and a December graduate of Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, N.C.. The groom is a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Lancaster, Pa. and Toccao Falls College in Toccao Falls, Ga.

After a wedding trip to Florida the couple will make their home in Winston-Salem, N.C. where they will pursue masters work in that area. The groom is employed by Aramark as a catering manager for Salem Academy. The bride is employed by Lowe's Home Improvement Center.

Flowers and cake were provided by Janice Craighead and Karen Lindsey of Kay Dee's.

Ihlenburg-Hartman

Rhonda Leigh Hartman and Andreas Thomas Ihlenburg were married April 6, 1996 in Colonial Avenue Baptist Church by Rev. Charles Doyle. The reception was held at The Roanoke Airport Marriott. The matron of honor was Debbie Hannselman. Bridesmaids were Tracy Mitchem and Angelika Semann. Flowergirl was Jennifer Treadway. The best man was Jeff Gomley. Ushers were Eddie Hartman and Eric Williams. Ringbearer was William Treadway. The honor attendants were Heather Hartman and Alexandria Semann. The guestbook was attended by Linda Belcher. Photography was provided by Jim Markey.|

The bride is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Hartman of Salem. She is employed by Children's Hospital of Michigan. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Ihlenburg of Rochester Hills, Michigan. He is employed by Computer Training & Support Corp. of Michigan. The newlyweds will live in Clawson, MI.

Luckado-Bryant

Melissa Bryant and Danny Luckado were married March 23, 1996 in a private ceremony in Roanoke. The Rev. John Crawford was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the Pebble Club in Roanoke for close family and friends.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Wilhelm of Eagle Rock. She is employed by ITT Night Vision. The groom is the son of Mary McGhee of Vinton and the late Don Luckado of Staunton. He is employed by Cooper Industries, Crouse-Hinds Division. The newlyweds will reside in Roanoke

Parris-Crawford

Laura Lynne Crawford and James Randall Parris, Jr. were married April 6, 1996 in Preston Oaks Baptist Church, with Pastor Joe Greene officiating. The reception was held at the church fellowship hall.

Matron of honor was Elizabeth P. Ryan, sister of the groom. Bridesmaids were Laura S. McCoy, friend; and Ashleigh E. Kitts, cousin of the bride. Flowergirl was Kaitlyn M. Smith, cousin of the bride.

Best man was J. Randall Parris, Sr., father of the groom. The ushers were Toby Ryan, brother-in-law of the groom; Drew Overstreet, Mick Musser and Ed Musser, friends of the groom.

The bride wore a satin gown with long train scalloped with pearls. She carried a bouquet of Easter lilies and peach roses.

The bride is the daughter of Warren and Judy Crawford of Roanoke. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School 1988, and Roanoke College 1992. She is employed as a teacher by Roanoke City Schools.

The groom is the son of Randall and Florence Parris of Abingdon, Va. He is a graduate of Abington High School 1984, and Virginia Tech 1988. He is employed by Halmode Apparel as a CPA.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Ruth-Goodman

Nicole Goodman, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Goodman of Boca Ratan, Florida, was married on Saturday, February 3, 1996, to Samuel Alan Ruth, a son of Dr. & Mrs. Gerald Ruth of Roanoke, Virginia. Rabbi Robert A. Silvers performed the ceremony at the Polo Club in Boca Ratan.|

The bride, an account executive with Palm Beach Illustrated, was graduated from Oldfields School and Simmons College.|

The bridegroom, a senior vice president with Prudential Securities, was graduated from North Cross School, Tufts University, and received a master's degree in business from the University of Virginia.

Temple-Clement

Mary Kathryn Clement and Sydney Dowd Temple, both formerly of Roanoke, were married Sat., March 30, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C. The Rev. Francis B. Mayes officiated. A reception at the church fellowship hall followed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellsworth Clement of Charlotte. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is employed by The Snyder Gallery of Art. The groom is the son of Mrs. Benjamin Temple, Jr. and the late Mr. Temple of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Blue Ridge School and is self employed.

Mrs. Dorothy Clement Jones was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Christi Keiger Bottoms, Sydney Austin O'Dell, and the groom's children, Sydney Elizabeth and Laura Megan Temple. Mr. Grady Clifton Pridgen was best man. The ushers were Benjamin Temple, III, Boyd Kimball Temple, Robert Young Clement, and Charles Alexander O'Dell.

The couple will live in Charlotte.

West-Terrill

Jennifer Ann Terrill and John Mark West were married September 10, 1995, at the First Baptist Church of O'Fallon, Illinois. The bride's parents are Lon and Sue Terrill of Tucson, Az. The groom's parents are Frank and Jenny West of Salem, Va. Ceremonial music was sung by Mrs. Helen Turner, relative of the groom. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white satin adorned with lace, pearls, and iridescent sequins. The skirt extended from a heart-shaped back to a cathedral length train. Her fingertip-length veil fell from a pearl headband embellished with white rosebuds. Her bouquet was a cascade of mauve and burgundy roses. Honor attendants were Naomi Milano-Anderson, Lisa Clements, Jeanne Sottnek, Julie Sottnek-DeNigris, David West, Mike Magill, MIke Pineda, and Mike Terrill. The bride graduated from the University of Arizona. She is employed by the U.S.A.F. The groom graduated from Carson-Newman College and the University of Tennessee. He is a Major in the U.S.A.F. The newlyweds are living in England while stationed at Lakenheath AB.
