BOWLING, Warren H., 75, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 6, 1996. Mr. Bowling was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Warren Bowling and wife Barbara, Roanoke; two daughters and son-in-law, Judy Lynne Grindstaff and husband Paul, Amherst, Peggy Jean Bowling, Tacoma, Wash.; a loving, caring friend, Virginia Bradley, Roanoke; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eleven brothers and sisters, Osmon Bowling, Pershing Bowling, Bedford, James Bowling, Gretna, Buford Bowling, Madison Heights, Walter (``Sam'') Bowling, Vinton, Lena Boerner, Clifton Forge, Laura Sink, Virginia Anderson, Dester Poage, all of Roanoke, Joyce Cooper, Salem, Mary Katherine Spradlin, Vinton; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 12 noon Tuesday, April 9, 1996, with the Rev. Mark Washington officiating. Interment with military honors by V.F.W Post 1264 in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

DUKE, Dianna Webster, of 3100 Monticello Drive, Wilmington, N.C., died Saturday, April 6, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Franklin County, Va., on January 22, 1948, the daughter of Daniel and Mildred Hatcher Webster of Callaway, Va. Ms. Duke had been employed in the automobile industry, and was a member of the Church of the Brethren Monte Vista in Franklin County, Va. Surviving in addition to her parents are her da ughter, Sheri Guthrie of Wilmington; a sister, Rachel Hodges and her husband William of Boones Mill, Va.; a brother, Daniel Stover Webster Jr. of Callaway; two nieces, and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 8, 1996, in Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by the Rev. David Webster.

DURANT, Lucille, 78, of Martinsville, died Wednesday, April 3, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday, Grace Chapel, Fieldale. Arrangements by Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home.

ELLIS, Sylvia Byrd, 90, of Pulaski, died Saturday, April 6, 1996, in the Highland Manor Nursing Home, Dublin. She was born on April 21, 1905, in Snowville, and was the daughter of the late Charley Montague Byrd and Emaline Silvers Byrd. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pulaski, and was preceded in death by her husbands, William Hundley Saunders and Jack Tolbert Ellis, Jr. Surviving are a stepson, William H. Saunders, Rochester, N.Y.; stepgrandchildren, John Cord, Daleville, Anne Saunders Dinnean, Stafford, Conn., Claude William Saunders, Oak Park, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Donald Scott and the Rev. Norman Witthuhn officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Monday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family wishes that memorials be made to the First Christian Church, Pulaski. FISHER, William Jubal, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, April 7, 1996. Mr. Fisher was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, and was retired from Hooker Furniture Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy C. Fisher, and is survived by a son, Wade Thomas Fisher, Salem; two brothers, Randolph Fisher, Odenton, Md., Robert L. Fisher, Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Fisher, Clara Wray Fisher; three stepchildren, Joyce, Dennis, Barbara, all of Roanoke; a nephew, Randy Fisher and his wife Kathy, Roanoke; several other nephews and great-nieces and nephews; a devoted friend, Ralph Reed. A graveside service will be held in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Kelly Dampeer officiating. A military service will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1264. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

HAGY, Bertha L., 90, of Christiansburg, went to be with her Lord Friday, April 5, 1996. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Buford Linkous and the Rev. Steve Akers, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. HALL, Louise Ellen, 84, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, April 7, 1996. She was a charter member of First Christian Church, Vinton, having attended 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Graham E. Hall; her sisters, Margaret A. Nethken, Mary E. Hurst; a brother, Irvin L. Blount, and her parents, Barbara E. Taylor Blount and Lewis E. Blount. Surviving are her sisters, Mildred E. Crawford and husband Vernon, Mabel V. Trainor, all of Roanoke; many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Tennie James and Gwen Wood, both of Roanoke. SCOTT, George Matthew, (``Jack""), 85, of Pearisburg, died Sunday, April 7, 1996, in Giles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Scott was retired from the Hoechst-Celanese Corporation, and attended Michigan State University. He was born in Mt. Hope, W.Va. on February 28, 1911, and was a son of the late Fred M. and Alberta Strader Scott. He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy S. Puckett, St. Augustine, Fla., Caroline S. She is survived by a son, Robert I. Wilkerson Jr. of Eden; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
