Clarification

Optical Cable Corp. of Roanoke reported net income of $2.8 million for its first quarter ended Jan. 31, up from $1.4 million in the same period of 1995. An earnings report on last Wednesday's Business pages cited a lower 1996 figure, also provided by the company, to show the hypothetical effect of corporate income taxes had they been due. The company did not begin to owe taxes at the corporate rate until April 1, the day its initial stock offering was completed.
