GOLF CART THEFT LEADS TO FELONY CHARGES

Town police arrested two Virginia Tech students last week in connection with the theft of a golf cart - which was dumped in a swimming pool - at College Park Apartments on March 31.

Police arrested Colin James Kennedy, 22, and Colby N. Poteat, 18, and charged them with breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny, grand larceny and attempted destruction of property. Both students are free on bond.

Early on March 31 someone entered a storage shed in the northwest portion of the apartment complex by destroying a door knob and then prying the door open. The burglar cut a steel gate with a hacksaw and drove the golf cart, valued at $5,000, into a common area, where it was pushed into the pool.
