TAYLOR CANCELS ROANOKE STOCK CAR RACE

Due to a contract squabble with the City of Roanoke, promoter Danny Taylor announced Tuesday he has decided to cancel the scheduled April 20 season-opening stock car race at Victory Stadium Speedway.

Taylor, who earlier announced plans to run 13 races at the stadium this spring and summer, said he decided to drop the opener because he ``can't get a fair agreement from the City of Roanoke.''

Taylor said no races will be held until numerous clauses in his contract with the city can be worked out.
