THE ROANOKE REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE has named Jack Avis of Avis Construction Co. the 1995 Top Producing Backbone Club Member. By contributing more than $6,000 in new memberships during 1995, Avis surpassed his own 1993 and 1994 records.

The chamber also named Ruthie Costello of The Carpet Shops Home Design Center the 1995 Ambassador of the Year for her work as a volunteer and team leader.

ANGELA KINZIE has been named Woman of the Year for 1995-96 by Valley Network Business and Professional Women's Organization. A childbirth educator, Kinzie has been instrumental in providing women the option of family representation during their labor and delivery.

HARRY W. KESSLER III of the Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Roanoke has received the Pacesetter Award, which is presented to the company's hearing instruments specialists who have made significant contributions to the education and well-being of the hearing impaired.

THE ROANOKE VALLEY SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT has announced the names of its members who passed a comprehensive exam and received accreditation from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Those receiving the senior professional in human resources designation are: Nancy A. Gladden, Ingersoll-Rand Co.; Joe Sgroi, Roanoke Memorial Hospitals; Carolyn Sink, Ingersoll-Rand; and Ann Ward, Manpower Inc.

Those receiving the professional in human resources designation are: Layne Lee, SESCO Management Consultants; Debra Mason, HCMF Corp.; and Beverly Moore, Arkay Packaging Corp.

THE ROANOKE REGIONAL HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION INC. has named Andy Kelderhouse of Fralin & Waldron Inc. Builder of the Year for 1995. He was recognized for his efforts on behalf of the association's members in governmental activities in Richmond and throughout the Roanoke region.

The group also named Jon Williams of American Electric Power Co. Associate of the Year for his support of association activities and his dedication to the home-building industry. The award is given each year to someone who is not a builder but who supports the association's projects.

WALT SCOTT, manager of Oakwood Homes of Roanoke has been recognized as rookie manager of the year by Oakwood Homes Corp., based in Greensboro, N.C. Scott has been with the company since 1992 and has been a member of the Quota Club for three consecutive years.
