RED-CARPET TREATMENT

          carpet Thursday in the Jefferson Ballroom of the Patrick Henry Hotel
          in downtown Roanoke. The hotel is spending about $120,000 to 
          redecorate its two ballrooms and to install new furniture in 36 of 
          its 120 guest rooms. The hotel, which was purchased by New York 
          investors six years ago, completed a $1 million renovation of its 
          public spaces and most of the guest rooms. The current work is part 
          of an ongoing capital improvement program to replace dated 
          furniture, said general manager William Carder. color.
