A 24-year-old Southwest Roanoke County man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday that police say appears to have been accidental.
David Ray King, of the 10400 block of Bent Mountain Road, was pronounced dead on the scene after shooting himself in the abdomen with a 9mm pistol just outside his residence.
A relative of King's who lived with him called 911 at 5 p.m. Police said they had no reason to believe that the shooting was intentional, but the investigation is being turned over to the medical examiner's office.
