A story written by Phillip Wright, a sixth-grade pupil at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools, has been published in a national magazine.
"Yellow Mushrooms," Phillip's story, appears in the March issue of "Highlights for Children." Readers were asked in an earlier issue to make up a story to go with an illustration of a girl, a boy and a dog hiking in the woods.
Phillip, the son of Daniel and Cynthia Wright, enjoys reading, playing soccer, collecting POGs and assembling model cars. He plans to become a physician.
"Highlights" has a circulation of nearly 3 million and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The magazine, known for articles such as "Hidden Pictures," "The Timbertoes" and "Goofus and Gallant," was first published in July 1946. It is not available at newstands, but is delivered by mail to subscribers.
