REGISTRATION CONTINUES FOR PUBLIC KINDERGARTEN

Public schools throughout the New River Valley are holding kindergarten registration for the 1996-97 school year. Children are eligible to enter kindergarten this fall if they will be 5 years old by Sept. 30.

Parents should bring the child to registration where professionals will check their sight and hearing. Parents must also bring these documents: the child's birth certificate, immunization records and Social Security number.

Montgomery County Public Schools kindergarten registration is April 22-26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held at each of the 12 elementary schools in Montgomery County. Call the school where the child will be enrolled or Doris McElfresh, director of programs, at 382-5120.

Pulaski County Schools kindergarten registration continues through April 25. All sessions will run from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows: Dublin Elementary School, Tuesday, 674-4613; Northwood Elementary School, Thursday, 980-4900; Draper Elementary School, Thursday, 980-5303; Snowville Elementary School, April 23, 980-3354; Claremont Elementary School, April 25, 980-6200.

Kindergarten registration for Floyd County and Radford was held earlier this year. Parents in Floyd County who have not registered their child should call the school their child will attend for registration information. Parents in Radford who have not registered should call McHarg Elementary at 731-3652. Giles County Public Schools kindergarten registration ended last week.
