RU STUDENT CHARGED WITH RAPE ATTEMPT

A Radford University sophomore has been arrested and charged with assaulting and trying to rape a fellow student.

School officials say Ralph William Bundick of Hampton was charged with malicious wounding and attempted rape after a female student reported being assaulted Friday around 9 p.m. in a public area of Moffett Hall, a coed campus dormitory.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, was treated at Radford Community Hospital for lacerations to her head and was released , said Debbie Brown, Radford University's executive director of public information.

Bundick was placed on interim suspension, pending the outcome of the legal and school investigations into the matter, Brown said.
