ALTICE, Fletcher Blane, 76, of Roanoke, died Sunday, April 14, 1996. He was a veteran serving in the US Army, and was a long time member of the VFW, and was a retired Electrician and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Rutherford, N.J. He is survived b y his wife, Enith King Altice; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Steiner and Robert W. Perry; grandchildren, Lorri S. and husband, Herbert W. Doss, Marie S. and husband, Byron T. Wright, Martin R. Jr. and wife, Cynthia A. Steiner; great-grand children, Michael and Chris Doss, Deidra and Jason Wright; beloved pets, Mandy and Brandy; sisters, Glenna Perdue, Telitha and husband, Russell Hartberger, Pauline Dillon, brother, Alfred Altice. Funeral services will be held 12 noon at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel the Rev. Virgil McHone and the Rev. Gary Kingery with burial in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel

BELL, Dorothy, of Abingdon, died Sunday, April 14, 1996 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Randolph Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va., a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, Abingdon, Va., and a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Bell and Rosa Lee Hu rt Bell; her brother, Wellford Bell; and her sister, Rachel Bell Maiden. She is survived by her sister, Rosalie Bell Hutton of Abingdon; her nephew, T.L. Hutton Jr.; her niece, Anne P. Hutton and great-niece, Terrell Wagman. Graveside services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sinking Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Robert N. Lominack Jr. officiating. BOWMAN, Anna Haulsee, 81, of Chilhowie, formerly of Sugar Grove, died Sunday, April 14, 1996 at the Frances Marion Manor in Marion, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson Bowman. She was a daughter of the late Walter Coy Haulsee and Virgie Hutton Haulsee and was the last child of her family. She was a former member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and had been a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church for 38 years. She was active and faithful in her church. She was the secretary of her Sunday school class, The Truth Seekers, for many years, and also served many offices of the WMU. She was a retired employee of Sothwestern State Hospital with over 40 years of service and also worked as a nurse at the Lee Memorial Hospital, Marion, Va. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Preston Richardson of Sugar Grove, Mary Ann and Frank Aker of Atkins; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, June and Tim Frye of Wytheville, Mary and Sam Parsons of Sugar Grove, Ann and Bobby Bales of Marion; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Jay and Monnie Richardson of Sugar Grove, John Aker of Piedmont Bible College, Winston-Salem, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Heather Parsons and Ethan Richardson both of Sugar Grove; a step great-grandson, Donnie Bales of Marion; three special Christian friends, Elizabeth Anderson, Ann Rupard, and Helen Goodman a ll of Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 1996 at the Chilhowie Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Eggers, the Rev. Chuck Herrell and Mr. John Aker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Va. with the Rev. Kenny Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Gale Hutton, Ernie Phillips, Arlen Sturgill, Wayne Bise, Jimmy Bowman, Johnny Bowman, John Goodwin, and Cecil McClure. HOUSE, Pauline Jane, 78, of Pearisburg, died Sunday, April 14, 1996 in Montgomery R egional Hospital at Blacksburg. Born in Christiansburg she was a daughter of the late Samuel, Sr. and Willie Sue Chapman Bishop. Pauline expressed her faith in her Lord as a member of the First Baptist Church at Pembroke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnston House and a son Johnston Clifton House. Surviving are a son, Larrel Samuel House and his wife Dorothy Ann House, of Pembroke; a daughter, Lillian H. Harris of Pembroke; a granddaughter, Felicia Ann Harris of Pembroke; one brother, Samuel, Jr. Bishop and his wife Bernice Bishop of Christiansburg; two sisters, Helen Younger of Wilmington, Del. and Josephine Howard of Christiansburg. PFOUNTZ, Lawrence Raymond, 64, of Roanoke, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, in a loc al hospital. He was a retired employee of Kroger with over 43 years of service. Mr. Pfountz was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church and a member of the Botetourt Country Club. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Josephine Pfountz, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Lawrence and Patricia Curtis Pfountz, Bristol; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kimberly and David Furman, northern Virginia, Janet Hollowell, Roanoke; five grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew Pfountz, Bristol, Kathryn Furman, northern Virginia, Kristina and James Hollowell, both of Roanoke; brother, John Pfountz; two sisters, Mary Ponder, Virginia Nowell, all of St. Louis, Mo. A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Robert Cummins will officiate. ROBERTSON, Claude P., 86, of Union Hall, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, in Franklin Health Care Center, Rocky Mount. He was born October 13, 1909, son of the late John Henry and Cora Smith Robertson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eraldine R. Covington; and a grandson, Randall Allen Robertson. Surviving are his wife, Etta Brown Robertson of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Nancy Robertson, Union Hall; grandchildren, Kelle and Keri Robertson of Union Hall, Billy Laprade of Boones Mill; Kenny and Robin Moran of Ridgeway, Steve and Marion Covington of Ridgeway; great-granddaughter, Katie Covington of Ridgeway; son-in-law, John Glenn Covington Jr. of Ridgeway; a very dear brother, Harry Robertson of Union Hall; and several nieces and nephews. SORRELLS, Albert Thomas, 77, of Route 4, Lexington, died Monday, April 15, 1996, in the Stonewall Jackso n Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1918 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late James Thomas Sorrells and Cora Lee Irvine Sorrells. Mr. Sorrells was a farmer, and a member of the Poplar Hill Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Sorrells; and a sister, Beatrice S. Zollman. Surviving are five brothers, Clarence M., Winfred M., Harold M., Bernard M. and Leonard D Sorrells, all of Lexington; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy S. Armstrong, Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 1996, in the Williams Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Clifford D. Caldwell and Rev. Dr. Woodward D. Morris Jr. officiating. He was born in Henry County on March 16, 1916, son of the late Bartholomew Stone and the late Weltha Mae Williams. He was retired from Catawba Sanatorium, and the husband of the late Mary A. Stone who preceded him in death in 1 986. He is survived by three three brothers, Wilbert Stone, Franklin County, Gilbert and Shirley Stone, Bassett, Sylvester Stone, Archdale, N.C.; sister-in-law, Judy and Eddie Cox, Salem, Jessie Stone, Archdale, N.C.; a host of nieces and nephews.
