Separate forums for town council candidates in Blacksburg and Pulaski are scheduled for tonight. Another forum for Dublin town elections will be held Tuesday.
The Blacksburg forum, organized by the Montgomery County League of Women Voters, will be held at 7:30 tonight in the municipal building's council chambers. Four candidates are competing for three seats in the May 7 election. They include longtime incumbents Frances Parsons and Michael Chandler and challengers Ron Rordam and Todd Halwas.
The Pulaski forum, scheduled by the Legislative Action Committee of the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, will be at 7 tonight in the General District Courtroom of the brick courthouse. Mary Wright, vice president of operations for Community National Bank, will be the moderator.
The Dublin forum will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Charles and Ona B. Free Memorial Library in Dublin, with Hiawatha Nicely, Legislative Action Committee chairman, as moderator.
Pulaski candidates for four seats are incumbents Roy D'Ardenne, Alma Holston and John Johnston, and challengers Polly Mitchell, Jim Neblett and Charles Stewart. Competing for three Dublin seats are incumbents Dave Farmer, Sam Gregory and Alden Hankla, with former Councilman Colbern Linkous as the fourth candidate. Dublin Mayor Benny Keister and Pulaski Mayor Andy Graham are unopposed for re-election.
