BOWLER HAS MORE THAN 300 TO CELEBRATE

Travis Bailey wasn't expecting an early birthday present when he went bowling Thursday night. But that's exactly what he got.

Bailey, who turns 21 today, bowled a perfect game at the Lee-Hi Lanes in Salem to start the celebration a little early.

Bailey, who has been bowling since he was 15, said he started to get really nervous in the 12th frame.

``I guess about the 12th ball,'' he said. ``I was a little nervous on that one.

``I think the whole league is happy. About everybody stopped bowling. That gets you a little nervous.''

Bailey, who was bowling with his Casey's Crew teammates in the Lee-Hi Rollers League, had bowled one 300 game before, when he was 17. No one else in his family is involved in the sport.

Bailey's teammates include Tim Nagel, Richard Casey, Barry Montgomery and Rick Watkins. - Staff report
