BAILEY, Michael David, 42, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, April 18, 1996. He is survived by Rosalyn D. Bailey; and sons, David Michael Bailey, Robert Joshia Bailey; half brother, Timothy Wayne Campbell. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Stacey Family Cemetery, Bedford County by the Rev. Jeff Gardner. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.

BOWLING, Sara Ruff, 58, of Bedford, passed away Friday, April 19, 1996. Funeral Sunday, 2 p.m., Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.

BURGHART, Inez A., of Tucson, Ariz., passed away Monday, April 15, 1996. She is survived by one sister, Delores S. Peters, Floyd; one brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Evelyn Sylvia, Sparrow Bush, N.Y.

CALDWELL, Dolly Louise 69, of Rich Creek, and formerly of White Gate, died Friday, April 19, 1996. Funeral Sunday, 2 p.m., A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel.

CAMPBELL, Lester Edward, 80, of 4255 Hills Market Road, Felton, De. , and formerly of Raphine, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 1996 in the Kent General Hospital, Dover, De. He was born on November 18, 1915 in Raphine, a son of Raymond Edward and Alma (Houff) Campbell. Prior to retirement, Mr. Campbell was employed by the Wilson Trucking Company of Fishersville. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church and the Stuarts Draft VFW Post No. 9339. His wife, Margaret (Baker) preceded him in death on January 24, 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Washburn of Felton, De.; and two grandchildren, Melinda Rector of Salem and William Christopher Washburn of Dover, De. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. C. William Cox. There will be no public viewing. It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, C/O Mr. Melvin Rosen, P. O. Box 7, Spottswood, Va. 24475. CUMMING, Michael Eugene, 48, of Galax, died Saturday, April 13, 1996. Memorial service Sunday 3 p.m., Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church.

DESJARDINS, James Robert, 40, of Bastian, died Monday, April 15, 1996 He was the son of Richard and Betty Desjardins of Wilmington, N.C. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Sherry Desjardins, Bastian; one son, Forrest Desjardins, Bastian; t wo sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheril and Larry Greene, Pembroke, Fran and Phil Pulsifer, East Waterboro, Maine; one brother, David Desjardins, Wilmington, N.C. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 21, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Suiter Cemetery, Bastian. DIX, Bertha Jefferson, 90, of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 1996, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ralph Molyneux, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. HANSEL, Robert Joseph, 70, of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 18, 1996. He was a retired Travelling Payroll Inspector with forty-two years of service to the Railway Industry. He was a U.S. army veteran of World War II serving in both Theatres. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Evansky Hansel and his parents, Joseph Robert Hansel and Katherine Bogast Hansel. Mr. Hansel was a life member of D.A.V. Post 3 and V.S.W. Chapter 1264. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Z. Hansel; his children, Joseph R. Hansel, Margaret Munton and husband, Richard, Roberta H. Brogan and husband, Charles, James A. Rodkey and wife, Linda; Susan D. Rodkey; Mark D. Rodkey and wife, Janet; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Swiech and husband, James; one aunt, Mary Zanchetta. The angels in heaven are applauding, smiling, and singing that ``Good Ole Bob'' has arrived. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Cave Spring Rescue Squad. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Saturday April 20, 1996. Dr. George K. Bowers will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Military honors by V.F.W. HELMS, Nora Virginia Price, 87, of Blacksburg, died late Thursday, April 18, 1996, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E. E. Helms; one son, James Helms; a daughter, Phyllis Humphrey; and a grandson, Tim Huff. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Fulks, Blacksburg, Maxine Wrenn, Christiansburg, Pam Clay, Goodview; five sons, Ervin Jr. of South Orange, N.J., Rudy of Blacksburg, Don and Richard, both of Christiansburg, Sam, Knoxville, Tenn; two sisters, Lillian Myers, Lois Reed; two brothers, Owen Price, Billy Price; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Sloss, with burial in the Pentecostal Holiness Conference Cemetery in Dublin. Friends may call any time Saturday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, and the family will receive friends there from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

HOWARD, Guy Randolph, 82, of Route 2, Altavista, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 1996. Born June 16, 1913, in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Ben O. Howard and Mamie White Howard. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Tommy Howard of Front Royal; one daughter, Nancy Chittum of Mechanicsville; four grandsons, Gregory Chittum and Garrett Chittum of Mechanicsville; Christopher Lee of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jody Lee of Front Royal; two sisters, Helen Woodford of Lynchburg, and Eleanor Morris of Buena Vista; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Howard of Fairfax; and many other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie G. Howard. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 1996, at Lomax Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Altavista, and from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista. HUDDLESTON, Thomas Camden (``Cam''), 88, of Goodview, passed away Thursday at his residence. He was a retired merchant, having operated Huddleston Grocery and Salvage Warehouse. He was also a member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine McGhee Huddleston. Survivors include one son and fiance', Thomas C. (``Tommy'' ) and Nora Leigh McManaway, Goodview; sisters-in-law, Maude M. Blackwell, Goodview, Marie M. Booth, Hardy; a nice, Kyma Simmons, Goodview; one nephew, J. T. Huddleston, Moneta. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, April 22, 1996 from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Scott McLain will officiate. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.

JARRETT, Ben P., (``Balto""), 71, of Roanoke, died Friday, April 19, 1996 at his residence. Mr. Jarrett was a retired school teacher w ith 30 years of service, having taught in Botetourt, Bedford and Henrico County School systems. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II and a graduate of V.P.I. He was a former pilot, member of Mineral Masonic Lodge and Kazim Temple and Shrine, and a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Anne Garrett Jarrett; three sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Beverly Jarrett, Houston, Texas, Bob W. Jarrett and W. Kent Jarrett, both of Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. D. A. Watson, Clearmont, Ga.; and brother, D. L. Jarrett, Jr., Salisbury, Md. A memorial service will be at the graveside in Sherwood Memorial Park 3 .m. Tuesday, April 23, 1996, with the Rev. William B. Ramey, Jr. officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, 1706 Grandin Rd., S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24015. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

KENDRICK, Eula Cleo Wray, 73, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 18, 1996 in a local hospital. She was the widow of Curtis Kendrick, and a member of Boones Mill Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Mountain View Memorial Park, Boones Mill, at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Pastor Robert A. Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003-0554). Friends may call after noon Saturday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel , where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday

KOGER, Charlotte Byrd, 64, of Rt. 3, Wytheville, died Wednesday, April 17, 1996 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Rural Retreat, the daughter of the late Garnett Campbell and Hortense Richa rdson Byrd. She was a member of the Red Bluff A.M.E. Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bristol Koger. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Wallace Austin of Guam; a son, Garnett Eddie Koger of Rt. 3, Wytheville; four sisters, Jeanette Graham of Rural Retreat, Pat Hyde, Frances Sims, Alma Thompson, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Frankie Byrd of Canton, Ohio, Sammy Byrd of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Devon and Derek Burke. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 21, 1996 at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel, Austinville, with Evangelist Shelley Kyle officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
