Two Falling Branch Elementary School students were slightly injured when a BB was shot through their school bus window Monday.
Bus driver Rita Hilton was driving down Chinquapin Trail just before 4 p.m. when she heard a "pop" and then some of the children crying.
Hilton pulled over to find a tiny hole and a cracked pane in a window near the front of the bus.
The two children sitting in the seat by that window suffered minor cuts: A boy was grazed on the cheek by the BB and fragments of glass made a small cut in a girl's index finger.
Hilton, still shaking from the incident, said she felt lucky no child was seriously injured.
"I'm on them all the time to sit proper in their seat," she said. "They must have been sitting right to not get hurt more."
Some of the children saw a teen-ager running away from the bus, tucking something into his shirt, police said.
Officers believe the teen may have gotten into a taxi, was dropped off a few miles away, then ran away. No arrest had been made by early Monday evening.
The children were taken home in another bus, more than a half an hour after their usual return time.
