Embrace: To make someone a vampire.
Kindred or The gathering: The vampires.
Masquerade: Pretending to be human. It is a high crime for vampires to break masquerade.
Garou and changelings: Werewolves and faerie-folk, respectively. In Roanoke, they live on Mill Mountain.
Childer: People who are turned into vampires by older vampires. Relationship is sort of like a parent to son or daughter: "He (or she) is my childer."
Elysium: A safe haven for the vampires; a meeting place. Taken from the Greek word for where the blessed go after death.
Clans: Seven in all. They're sort of like gangs and often get into turf disputes. They range from aristocrat Wall Street corporate-raider types to evil punk rockers.
Primogen: Vampire clan leaders. They report to the Prince and help advise him.
Prince: Head of all local clans.
Justicar: Title for judge of the vampires, head of state. Prince is below him.
Camarilla: The government for all the vampire clans. If the vampires were a moose lodge, these would be the guys with the really big antlers.
Majesty: A trait among vampires and other supernatural creatures that makes others like and revere you. Kind of like being a supermodel or a rock star.
