MEETING TO ADDRESS GENDER EQUITY

The YMCA at Virginia Tech will host a community meeting on gender equity from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church.

The keynote speaker is Beth Macy, columnist for The Roanoke Times. Macy's talk, "But enough about Beijing . . . Who Scrubs the Toilets in Your House? Stories About Gender Issues Close to Home - and Heart," addresses gender issues.

Following the talk, a small group discussions will be facilitated by Marilyn Buhyoff, Manisha Singal, Bill Ellenbogen and Jon Utin. Facilitators are uniquely qualified in that they all have a gender, children and a spouse (with the exception of Utin, who just has a gender).

Women in Development, the Creanwell International Center and the YMCA at Virginia Tech are sponsors for the event.
