Army Warrant Officer Stephen Clower recently deployed on a temporary duty assignment to Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. He is a member of the Joint Task Force-Bravo, which is the command and control headquarters for most of the U.S. military forces that are deployed to participate in exercises and training activities in the Republic of Honduras.
Clower is a blackhawk helicopter pilot at Fort Rucker, Ala. He is the son of Earl and Sandra Clower of Pilot. He graduated from Floyd County High School in 1986 and received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1994.
Navy Seaman Jeremiah Snapp recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He also was named Honor Recruit in his recruit training company. Snapp is the son of Ann and John Snapp of Shawsville.
Two area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Army Spec. David L. W.. Rupe is a 1990 graduate of Pulaski County High School and a 1994 graduate of Bridgewater College. He is the son of Linda Simpson of Radford and the grandson of Dorothy Donithan of Pulaski.
Army Pvt. Sarah L. Farmer graduated from Pulaski High in 1995. She is the daughter of Freda A. O'Dell of Hiwassee.
Air Force Airman Mackenzie W. Moses recently graduate from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Moses is a 1995 graduate of Christiansburg High School. He is the son of Frank and Connie Moses of Christiansburg.
Marine Pvt. Cheryl L. Nickerson recently completed 11 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Nickerson is a 1995 graduate of Auburn High School. She is the daughter of James and Kasella Zahn of Radford.
Army Reserve Pvt. Sherry L. Ratcliff recently started eight weeks of basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Ratcliff graduated from Giles High School in 1994. She is the daughter of Kathy Price of Blacksburg.
Jeffery LaVere Jr. recently graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is now training as and administrative specialist at Fort Jackson. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Skip Mathis of Christiansburg.
Two area high school students recently joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Christiansburg.
Travis W. Price is a senior at Giles County High School. In August, he will report to Fort Jacksonville, S.C., to begin basic military training. He is the son of Robert and Barbara Price of Pearisburg.
William D. Edwards is senior at Pulaski County High School. He will report to Fort Benning, Ga., to begin basic military training in August. He is the son of Jesse and Linda Edwards of Hiwassee.
