CENTER TO BE DEDICATED IN FORMER DEAN'S MEMORY

The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech will dedicate the Richard B. Talbot Educational Resources Center at 3 p.m. today.

Talbot was a veterinary educator, research scientist, administrator and innovator who died in the crash of USAir Flight 427 near Pittsburgh in September 1994.

Talbot came to the university in 1974 to help establish the veterinary college. He served as the institution's founding dean through the graduation of its charter class in 1981.

Several speakers will be at the dedication, including Virginia Tech President Paul Torgersen; Peter Eyre, dean of the college; and David Anderson, dean of the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine, where Talbot was a dean before coming to Virginia Tech.
