Bus and van shuttles that have operated between Roanoke and the Amtrak station in Clifton Forge for seven years will end after Sunday.
Marc Magliari, an Amtrak spokesman in Chicago, said Friday there weren't enough riders to justify the cost. The bus and van have carried Amtrak passengers from the Sheraton Inn near Roanoke Regional Airport to downtown Clifton Forge on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Magliari said that if any government or private parties want to talk about subsidizing the service, "We'd be happy to talk to them."
