AGNOR, Raymond Elmer, 84, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, April 27, 1996 at Shenandoah Valley Heath Care Center. He was born October 23, 1911 in Rockbridge County, son of the late Wyatt and Dollie Agnor. He was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church. Mr. Agnor was retired from his busi ness as a paint contractor. Surviving are his wife, Isabell Fox Agnor; stepson, Randolph Humphries; daughter-in-law, Ruby Humphries; two grandsons, Bobby and Donald Humphries; great-grandson, Mickey Humphries; three great-granddaughters, Lisa Dorey, Chrystal and Lindsey Humphries; a great-great-granddaughter, Victoria Regan Dorey; and a nephew, Ronnie Agnor. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service. BURNETT, Phyllis Marie, 62, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 25, 1996. Survivors include four daughters, Daina (William L.) CARTER, Frederick D., 72, of Rt. 5, Rocky Mount, died Friday, April 26, 1996. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Mae White, Bassett, Mrs. Florence Patterson, Washington D.C., Mrs. Della Preston, Bassett, Mrs. Jean Mackenhimer, Washington D.C.; one brother, Junious Carter, Rocky Mount; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Carter, Rocky Mount; one brother-in-law, William Patterson, Washington D.C.; nieces ; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. CARTER, Lucy Perdue, 88, of Salem, passed away Friday, April 26, 1996. She was the widow of Maxie H. Carter. She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert L. EMMONS, Jacqueline Neel, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 25, 1996. Mrs. Emmons was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a retired supervisor for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation. Surviving are her husband, Homer E. (``Bob"") Emmons; her son and daughter-in-law, George Thomas and Karen Staley of Dahlonega, Ga.; her stepchildren, Dr. Herbert J. Emmons of Middleburg, N.Y., and Sue Morrell of Mount Dora, Fla.; two grandchildren, Colby and Tara Staley; four stepgrandchildren, Matthew, David, Alexandra and Amze; her sisters, Virginia Covert of Orlando, Fla., Vida Foglesong of Ceres, Dixie Barger of Roanoke and Elizabeth Allen of Fairfax, and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Neel of Marion. HUGHETT, John Hensel, 81, of Route 1, Thaxton, died Friday, April 26, 1996 at his residence. He was born in Pulaski, Va. on September 6, 1914 a son of the late Arthur Clay Hughett and Nancy Anderson Hughett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Don Hughett, a grandson, John Hughett III, and a great-grandson, Jessie Tyler Hughett. John was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Peaks of Otter Post #2157 VFW and an elder of Cool Spring Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Farmer Hughett; two sons, John Hensel Hughett Jr., Lynchburg, Richard Hughett, LaGrange, Texas; two brothers, Arvie Hughett and Edgar Hughett both of Pulaski; one sister, Elsie Caudle, Pulaski; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 1996 at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Geoff Hubbard, the Rev. Millard Stimpson and the Rev. Jesse Bratton officiating. HYLTON, Idenia White, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 25, 1996. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Loudon Avenue Christian Church. The Rev. KIDD, Joseph P., Jr. 49, of Vinton, died Friday, April 26, 1996. He was an Army Veteran of Viet Nam, and was retired from the Veterans Administration. Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Kidd, Washington state; a son, Brian Eugene Kidd, South Carolina; his mother, Lucy Meador Kidd, Vinton; four sisters, Rachel Firebaugh, Roanoke, Annie Mae Gray, Vinton, Alice Faye Altice, Wirtz, Vivian Elizabeth Duncan, Goodview; a number of nieces and nephews. LAMKIN, Elva Nester, 78, of N. LaBelle, Fla., died Friday, April 26, 1996 after an extended illness. She was born May 12, 1917, at Stuart, Va., and moved to LaBelle in 1980, from Glade Hill, Va. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills. She is survived by her husband, Max Lamkin of the home; sons, James H. Lamkin of Rocky Mount, Va. and Tillman E. Lamkin of LaBelle, Fla.; brothers, Lloyd Nester, Collinsville, Va., Tillman Nester, Leavensworth, Kansas and Fred Nester of Martinsville, Va.; sister, Virginia Campbell of Martinsville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Freda (Harry) Burke of Detroit, Mich., and Saundra (Tony) Bronson of Chicago; four sisters, Ola Mae Lewis of Maryland, Alice Murphy of Bedford, Va., Dorothy Colem an of Roanoke and Sylvia (Richard) Parker of Maryland; four brothers, Joseph (Celia) Thomas of Beckley, W.Va., Albert (Maggie) Thomas and DePriest (Millie) Thomas of Maryland and James Holland of Moneta, Va.; seven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. LINDAMOOD, M. C., (``Lindy""), 81, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, April 26, 1996. He was Chairman of the Board at Hatcher Trucking Company, a veteran of World War II, a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, a Freemason, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and a Shriner. Mr. Lindamood was the widower of Elizabeth H. Lindamood, and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Anita Lindamood of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Bobby and wife Michelle Lindamood, and Amy Lindamood, all of Roanoke; a great-grandson, Taylor Lindamood; a sister, Janet Williams of Columbus, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Virginia Lindamood of Ohio, and three nieces, Betty Norris, Norma Wright and Helen Lee. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with Arthur E. Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. MADY, Richard John, 73, of Dublin, died Saturday, April 27, 1996 at his home. He was born November 1, 1922 in New York, N.Y. An ex-marine, having served in World WarII and the Korean Conflict, he came to Pulaski County after he married Woody June Hedge of Dublin in June 1944. He is survived by his wife, Woody June H. Mady of Dublin; one daughter, Candace J. Mady of Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Becky M. Mady of Blue Ridge; two granddaughters, Ashley N. Mady and Lindsay D. Mady of Blue Ridge; three sisters, Dorothy Mady of Pulaski, Wini M. Wilkins of Bradford, Conn., and Jean M. King of Mineola, N.Y.; four brothers, James Mady of Pulaski, Raymond Mady of Rockville Center, N.Y., Edward Mady of Pottsville, Penn., and Walter Mady of Phoenix, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews. During his life, Richard was very active in civic and political affairs in Pulaski County and around the world. During his early years in the country he raised beef cattle and sheep on his wife's family farm. He was active in PTAs and band boosters as his children were growing up. He served as president of the Pulaski County Farm Bureau and as a director of the Pulaski County Agricultural Fair Association and was active in many positions in the Dublin Feeder Calf Association. He was a Mason and an active member of Dublin United Methodist Church. He was also responsible for the ``Avenue of Flags"" along Route 100 in Dublin, where American flags are flown on various national holidays. An avid magician, Richard and Jim Murphy of Roanoke helped organize the Ring of Magicians in Roanoke. He would perform for various functions in Roanoke and Pulaski County. Richard was also very active in the Dublin Ruritan Club having joined in 1952. He held various offices through the years and was instrumental in organizing many new Ruritan clubs in Southwest Virginia. He joined the staff of Ruritan National in 1965 and was one of the major forces in having the National Headquarters moved to Dublin from Wakefield, Va. that same year. In January 1973, Richard was named Director of Conventions for Civitan International, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., and traveled all over the United States and the world setting up conventions. He retired from Civitan in 1985 to devote all his energy to his lifetime dream--having a restaurant of his own. In the late 1970s Richard purchased the old Haney Hotel in Newbern and began resto ring it into what would become the Valley Pike Inn, a family-style restaurant. He and his wife and daughter ran the restaurant for several years before selling it due to Richard's declining health. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1987, Richard became paralyzed after suffering a stroke following brain surgery. He lived a passive life for the last nine years, but always enjoyed visits by those he knew and loved. Richard and his family would like to express warm thanks to the following special people: sister, Dorothy Mady, niece, Carol Miller, Martha Davis, Milton Eddy, the staff of Heritage Home Health Care, and the staff of Community Pharmacy. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday from the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at which time a Masonic Funeral Service will be held. McGHEE, Reaford B., (``Bro""), 77, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, April 27, 1996. He was an avid Salem Avalanche fan, and was known to many at the ball park as Cowboy. Mr. McGhee was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Ethel McGhee. Surviving are his sister, Juanita M. Harner of Roanoke; a niece, Diane M. Blankenship and husband Joe of Roanoke; a nephew, Chuck Mitchell and wife Debbie of Greenville, S.C. ; a great-niece, Kristen Blankenship of Roanoke, and great-nephews, Graham and Avery Mitchell of Greenville, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Charles R. Doyle. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.

MEADOR, Robert William, (``Bob""), 57, of Lexington, passed away early Saturday morning in the University of Virginia Hospital. Mr. Meador was born March 27, 1939, in Roanoke, a son of Alma James Meador of Lexington, who made her home with her son, and the late Howard Luther Meador. Mr. Meador was employed with First National Bank (now First Union) as a teller in August, 1960. He served as manager of the Riverjack office in Salem and manager of the Vinton office. He became chief executive officer of the Lexington area operation of the bank in 1975, senior vice president of Dominion in 1980, became an area manager of the Alleghany, Bedford and Rockbridge Community Bank of Dominion in 1991, and was named city president of First Union's Lexington/Covington area in 1993. He retired from banking in December, 1994. He was a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia, and of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He served as Sunday School teacher for youth and adults at Vinton Baptist Church, and was a member, teacher and youth leader at Manly Memorial Baptist Church. After serving as president of his local Jaycee chapter in Vinton, he was elected to several state Jaycee positions including state vice president and national director, and was elected to the office of state presidents of the Virginia Jaycees in 1971. At the time of his death, he was serving on the board of Historic Lexington Foundation and as a trustee for Southern Virginia College. Mr. Meador was the organizing president of the Lexington Student-Parent-Teacher Forum; Camp Virginia Jaycee, a statewide camp for the mentally handicapped sponsored jointly by the Virginia Jaycees and the Virginia Mental Retardation Association, and the Lexington Downtown Development Association. He also had been president of the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of Historic Lexington Foundation, an executive committee member of Lime Kiln Arts Inc., and chairman of the economic restructuring committee of Lexington Downtown Development Association. He was selected by Rotary District 757 to participate with four other young men in a six-week group study exchange program in New South Wales, Australia, in 1974. He was selected ``Business Individual of the Year" in 1986 by the Lexington-Rockbrid ge Chamber of Commerce, and Virginia Downtown Volunteer of the year by the Virginia Downtown Development Association in 1989. He was tapped into the Washington and Lee Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Society in 1987 in recognition of his community service leadership. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet C. Meador of Lexington; a daughter and husband, Deborah and Daniel Pruett of Lexington; a son and wife, Robert and Katherine Meador of Fredericksburg, and two sisters, Mary Alma Moreland of Fairfax, and Alice Marie Smith and her husband Paul of Lubbock, Texas. Granddaddy/Paw-Paw also is survived by five grandchildren whom he loved and enjoyed, Danielle and Hunter Michelle Pruett, and Lee, Katy and Sara Meador. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 1996, from Manly Memorial Baptist Church, with Dr. Thomas G. Harvey, the Rev. Charles Watkins and Dr. William Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Robert W. Meador Scholarship Fund in care of Manly Memorial Baptist Church, 202 South Main St., Lexington, Va. 24450.
