Barry Bonds joined his father and godfather in elite company Saturday. But he wasn't around to celebrate at the end of the game.
The San Francisco Giants outfielder hit the 300th home run of his career to become the fourth major-leaguer to hit 300 homers and steal 300 bases.
In the third inning of the Giants' 6-3 victory over the Florida Marlins, Bonds hit a two-run homer off former teammate John Burkett.
When he returned to the dugout, Bonds hugged his father Bobby Bonds, the Giants' first-base coach who had 332 homers and 461 steals.
Hall of Famer Willie Mays, Barry Bonds' godfather, was the first player to eclipse the 300-300 mark. Mays had 660 homers and 338 stolen bases.
Bonds hit his second homer of the game in the fifth inning, but was ejected by plate umpire Mark Hirschbeck for arguing a called third strike in the seventh.
Florida's Andre Dawson also is in the 300-300 club.
