Roanoke mayoral debate: Roanoke mayoral candidates David Bowers and Pat Green take questions from a studio audience and callers. Broadcast by WVTF-FM, 89.1, 7-8 p.m. Those who plan to be in the audience should assemble at Grand Pavilion, across the street from Tanglewood Mall, about 6:45.

|THURSDAY Roanoke Candidate Forum: Candidates for Roanoke mayor and City Council debate at 7 p.m. at Preston Park Recreation Center. Sponsored by Williamson Road Action Forum.

May 7: ELECTION DAY: Municipal elections in Roanoke, Salem, Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Radford, Pulaski, Dublin, Bedford and other cities and towns in Virginia. Radford also elects its School Board.

May 11: 5th District Democrats, 6th District Democrats, 9th District Democrats and 9th District Republicans hold conventions to nominate congressional candidates.

May 18: 5th and 6th District Republicans hold conventions to nominate congressional candidates.

June 7-8: Democrats hold state convention in Hampton to nominate U.S. Senate candidate. Mark Warner has clinched nomination.

June 11: ELECTION DAY: Republican primary to pick U.S. Senate nominee. Incumbent John Warner and challenger Jim Miller are candidates.

Aug. 12-16: Republican National Convention in San Diego.

Aug. 26-29: Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Oct. 11: Deadline to register to vote if not already on the books.

Nov. 5: ELECTION DAY: Voting for president, U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
