Kid's fishing day
BLACKSBURG - Kids can fish for stocked trout at Pandapas Pond on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The Blacksburg Ranger District of the Washington and Jefferson National Forests will sponsor the event. The pond will be open to the public for fishing after noon.

Benefit singing
CHRISTIANSBURG - A benefit singing for Brian Adkins will be held on Saturday, May 4 at the New Hope Church of God at 1404 Mud Pike Road in Christiansburg. The benefit will help raise the money needed for Adkins' transplant..
Singers include The Martin Family and Young at Heart. A bake sale and hot dog and hamburger supper will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Outdoor benefit
PEMBROKE - An outdoor benefit for Carol Martin, a Giles County special education teacher, will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pembroke American Legion Park. Martin needs a bone marrow transplant in order to fight multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer. This benefit will help raise the $130,000 required for the surgery.
Activities include raffles, music, a cake sale and snack bar. Todd Martin's exhibit of reptiles from around the world will be on display. Musicians include Southern Country, Gentle River, Schocter Dooker, Tinker Thornton, and Fat Boys Rockers.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
