Blacksburg native Tom DeBusk (left) will seek the Republican nomination next week to unseat Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon.

DeBusk, 31, a former ministerial student who works for Virginia Tech, announced his candidacy Wednesday at a news conference held at Blacksburg's Hand-in-hand playground.

He joins law student Patrick Muldoon of Giles County and former state legislator Barnes Kidd of Tazewell as prospective GOP candidates to challenge Boucher.
