nNext time you open that can of Spam, don't slap it between two pieces of bread - rub it on the bathroom mirror. According to the New York Times Magazine, that pork-shoulder-in-a-can steam-proofs mirrors. And, if you get hungry while toweling dry.... It works great as fish bait, too. (More than 5 billion sold, but you'll never see that on a bright yellow sign).

Ever been bored enough to wonder how many O's are in a 15-ounce can of Spaghettios? 1,750. This is not first-hand knowledge, I swear.

Hey, moms, had any meaningful, honest conversations with your teen-ager lately? Chances are about 50-50. A study from the University of Virginia found students lie in 46 percent of their conversations with Mom. Take heart - they lie in 77 percent of conversations with strangers.

How has Vanna White stayed so slim all these years? By walking more than 443 letter-turning miles since first whirling onto ``Wheel of Fortune.''

And yet another justification for hitting the ``off'' button on the remote: Kids see an average of 40,000 commercials a year. Or, as the Merck Family Fund stated it, ``the average kid sees'' that many advertisements. But who in your neighborhood will admit their kids are just average? Figuring how many times they see the same commercial, minus ads for items they're not interested in, they probably ask you for 5,000 things a year. Let's see, divided by 365 days, that's ...
