Brendle's Inc., Elkin, N.C.-based discount retailer, said Thursday the court overseeing its bankruptcy reorganization has approved going-out-of-business sales in 18 of its stores, including one at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke County.
The court also approved the hiring of Schottenstein-Bernstein Capital Corp. to liquidate inventory in those stores. The company had said it would make the stores part of its strategic repositioning.
Brendle's said comparable-store sales increased 9 percent from last year, through April 20.
