The cause of a fire early Friday morning in a bedroom of a Westover Drive home remains unknown, Blacksburg police said.
The fire started about 2 a.m. in Glen and Kathy Hargrove's home in the 1300 block of Westover. Glen Hargrove was treated at the scene for minor burns to his feet, police said.
Blacksburg firefighters kept the fire from spreading, but flames caused damage estimated at $4,000 to the bedroom, police said.
Wayne Garst, Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department's fire prevention coordinator, said the fire started beside a bed.
"We think it started from something left burning or smoldering near the bed," he said.
A juvenile who was thought to be in the bedroom at the time of the fire was later found at a relative's house, police said.
Police are calling the fire an accident but said they will continue investigating.
