ALBERT, Robert Glenn, 66, of Parrott, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, in a Radford Hospital. He retired 1986 from Hercules Inc. with 35 years service. He was a member of Parrott United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy H. Albert, Parrott; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry K. and Nancy Albert, Parrott; a brother, Kenneth Albert Sr. , Dublin; two sisters, Thelma Simpkins, Christiansburg, Elizabeth Long, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Gail Thompson, Parrott, Pam Saville, Blacksburg; one great-grandson; one stepgreat-granddaughter. BURNETT, Gordon Tinsley, (``Tally""), 62, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at Heritage Hall in Lexington. He was born in Forest, Va. August 30, 1933, son of the late Fred A. Burnett and Estelle Gordon Burnett. He was retired from Hermetite after 33 years service. He was a life member of the Buena Vista Fire Department, a member of American Legion Post #126 and a former member of Buena Vista Jay-Cees. He was a charter member of the Forest Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by a brother, James P. Burnett. Surviving are his wife, Sammy Dameron Burnett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robbie and Linda Burnett and David and Ashley Burnett, all of Buena Vista; two grandsons, Jason and Kevin Burnett; one granddaughter, McKayla Burnett; three sisters, Ruby Edwards of Bedford, Betty Weiland of Lynchburg and Kitty Hamilton of Lynchburg; four brothers, Fred Burnett of St. Petersburg, Fla., Bill Burnett of Lynchburg and Ed and Tommy Burnet of Forest; stepmother, Roasline C. FARRELL, Ida Rash, (""Nan-Nar""), 74, of Salem, died Monday night, May 6, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Haden Farrell and was formerly a resident of Richmond. She had been in the Roanoke a rea for the past 4 1/2 years. She was retired from the Standard Drug Company of Richmond and was a member of Bainbridge Street Baptist Church. Nan-Nar is survived by three children and their spouses, David and Joan Farley of Roanoke, Thom and Sandra Farrell, Austin, Texas, Dr. Frank and Marilyn Farrell, of Goldsboro, N.C. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Ellyn Farley, Sarah Farrell, Johnathan Farley, Patrick Farrell, Daniel Farrell, Kathleen Farrell. GAUSE, Charles W. (``Chuck''), 58, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, May 6, 1996. He was the Owner of Chuck's Appliance Repair Service. Mr. Gause was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church, where he participated in the choir, and was a member of the John Draper Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Botetourt Swingers Square Dancing Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Lory W. Gause. Surviving are his wife, Peggy N. Gause; son, Charles B. Gause, Spartanburg, S.C.; granddaughter, Alexandra Leigh Gause, Charlotte, N.C.; mother, Helen D. GENTRY, F. M. Jim, 68, of Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Salem, Va., died at his home on May 6, 1996. Jim, a Navy veteran of World War II, was founder of Gentry Photographic Studios in Virginia. Jim's career moved from co-owner of the Salem Sheraton, Director of Tinker Mountain Workshop, and Executive Director of Lewis-Gale Medical Foundation in Salem, Va. Retirement came after ten years as District Manager in Indiana and Illinois for the United States Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Gentry, Sr. and his brother, William H. Gentry, Jr. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail; his mother, Ora C. Gentry of Salem, Va.; his daughter, Debbie and husband, Thad McCulloch of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Cindy and husband, Kevin Wickam of Penhook, Va.; stepchildren, Kathleen and husband, Curtis Cain of Clarksville, Tenn., Pamela Feick of New York, New York, and Scott Feick of Terre Haute, Indiana; brother, E. Paige Gentry and wife, Barbara of Salem, Va.; grandchildren, Ashley McCulloch, Hunter Wickam, Christopher, Justin and Benjamin Cain. GRAY, Creddie Sexton, 85, of Narrows, died Monday, May 6, 1996. She was born in Washington County on August 10, 1911, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Laura Armenta Badger Sexton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Gray ; four grandchildren, Bonnie Elaine Gray, Gary Wright and Drema Gray, Sarah Elizabeth Robertson; seven brothers; and two sisters. She was a member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church in Narrows. She is survived by three sons, Robert F. Gray and Daniel G. Gray, both of Narrows, George Gray, Churchville, Md.; a daughter, Peggy G. Stone, Narrows; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Rev. Kimball Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. LOVERN, Jerry S., (``Shorty''), 82, of the 900 block of Timber Creek, Virginia Beach, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital. He was retired from Burlington Industries with 35 years of service. He was born in Pulaski County, son of the late Fannie Roseberry Lovern and A. J. L overn. He was a member of First Christian Church of Radford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lorton Lovern. He is survived by one daughter, Janet Klamerus and her husband, Thomas, of Virginia Beach; one granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Frank Shay IV of Virginia Beach; one niece, Lois Ann Lovern of Charlottesville. MARTIN, Herbert M., 67, of 513 Well Fleet Dr., Trotwood, Ohio, died May 6, 1996 at 12:56 a.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on March 7, 1929 in Roanoke, Va. to the late Ezra Martin and Roxie Conner Martin. Mr. Martin was a meatcutter for Krogers for 32 years and retired in 1988. He was also a member of the Naval Reserve and Meadowdale Baptist Church. He is survived by a wife, Helen Semones Martin, Trotwood, Ohio. They were married on March 26, 1946 in Chester, S.C. He is also survived by twin sons, Garry Martin, Salt Rock, W.Va., and Barry Martin, Tipp City, Ohio; daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Susan) Berry, West Liberty, Ohio; brothers, Frank Martin, Sun City Center, Fla., Clyde Martin, Winter Haven, Fla., and Homer Martin, Englewood, Ohio; sisters, Mary Haron, Radford, Edna King, Trotwood, Ohio, Geneva Thompson, Charlotte, N.C., and Elsie Rader, Vinton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. NEWBERRY, Naomi Umbarger, 69, of Bland, died Monday, May 6, 1996, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Robert G. ``Bob'' Newberry and co-founder of Newberry Funeral homes of Bland and Chilhowie. She served on the board of directors of Highland Funeral Service, Inc. from its onset. She was a devoted member of Bland United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. ``Bob'' Newberry of Bland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry L. and Cris R. STONE, Charles Edward Jr., 69, of Columbia, S.C., died Monday, May 6, 1996. Born in Roanoke, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Stone Sr. and Mary Burnette Stone. He was retired President of Crowson-Stone Printing Co. He graduated from Clemson University in e lectrical engineering, was a radio operator and a member of the Amateur Radio Club, and a Navy veteran of World War II. TOLLEY, Clara Lee, 82, of Lexington, died Monda y, May 6, 1996, in the Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. Mrs. Tolley was born June 19, 1913, in Benson, N.C., a daughter of the late Jasper Lee and Rozella Johnson Lee. She was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War II, serving as a nurse in the U. S. Navy. She was the widow of Thomas B. Tolley. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, George A. and Carolyn Tolley of Lexington; a daughter and son-in-law, Clara L. and James Sharrard of Springfield, Mass.; two brothers, Eric Lee and Luther Lee of Benson, N.C.; two sisters, Vira Freeman and Clyde Hudson of Benson, N.C.; grandchildren, Jeremy Sharrard, Jesse Sharrard and Johana Sharrard; stepgrandchildren, Ethan Emma, Chris Emma and Lore Emma; and a number of special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 1996, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Thomas G. Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington.

TURNER, Clyde Irvin, 44, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, May 6, 1996. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Hall Turner; and brother, James Keith Turner. VANBLARICON, Mary Elizabeth, 81, of Salem, died Monday, May 6, 1996 at Richfield Nursing Center, following five years of loving support and compassionate care at the T. Stuart Payne Center, S alem. She was retired from the Honeywell Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville B. VanBlaricon, a daughter, Judith K. Jeske, a sister, Geneva Webb, a brother, Don Comer. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David K. and Pieternella VanBlaricon, Holland; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Allan Cuttriss, Florida, Maxine and Jim Givens, Indiana; five grandchildren, Pieter VanBlaricon, Erika VanBlaricon, Judy VanBlaricon, Holland, Jill Smith, Florida, Ted Jeske, Connecticut; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 10, 1996 at 12 noon at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne W. McCauley officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the Lotz Salem Chapel.

VAUGHAN, Avis Marshall, 91, of Galax, died Monday May 6, 1996, at the Twin County Regional Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Wayne Vaughan, who in partnership with Gilman Guynn purchased what is now known as Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, where he was the manager until his death in 1955. Mrs. Vaughan was a stockholder and Corporate Secretary/Treasurer of Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Vaughan-Guynn McGrady Chapel, Inc., Hillsville, and Guynn Realty Corporation for the past several years. She was a faithful, loyal member of the First United Methodist Church, Galax. Her love of the Blue Ridge Parkway led her to travel many miles to notarize deeds for land for the Parkway. She continued to travel the Parkway whenever possible and even traveled there on Sunday, May 5, 1996, enjoying lunch at The Bluffs. A charter member of the Galax Business and Professional Women's Club formed in 1936, she was honored on February 25, 1996 for all her contributions to the chapter and her efforts in organizing Galax's first public library. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Estel and Betty Marshall, Galax; sisters and brother-in-law, Glenice and Serle Puckett, Ararat, Lida Marshall, Hillsville, and Idell McElrath, Raleigh, N.C. Also several nieces and nephews survive. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Galax, with interment in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Kenneth Perkins. Arrangements by the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax.

WILMER, Carlton Lee, 82, of Buena Vista, died Monday, May 6, 1996, at his home. He was born April 16, 1914, in Amherst County, son of the late John T. Wilmer and Fannie Rogers Wilmer. He was a long-time member of the First Brethren Church in Buena Vista. Mr. Wilmer was retired from Kling Elementary School. He is survived by his wife, Hillie Bra dner Wilmer; one son, Jesse A. Wilmer of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Dale Martin and Janet L. Pinkerton, both of Buena Vista; one brother, Garland Wilmer of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Brethren Church, Buena Vista, with the Rev. Lester Kennedy and the Rev. Charles Bearinger officiating.
