FUND SET UP FOR DROWNING VICTIM'S FAMILY

The Christiansburg Wesleyan Church is collecting money for the family of 4-year-old Jaimee Deihm, who died Sunday after falling in a farm pond.

The Rev. Dave Hurd said all money collected will be given to the Christiansburg family.

Donations should be delivered to the Christiansburg Wesleyan Church, 1030 Harless St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Checks can be made out to the church and designated for the Jaimee Deihm Memorial Fund.

Jaimee was playing at the pond's edge with friends when she lost her balance and fell. None of the children playing that day knew how to swim. One child offered a stick to help Jaimee from the water, but the child was apparently too weak to grasp it, authorities said.

Rescue workers partially revived Jaimee after she spent more than an hour under water, but Jaimee died the next morning while on life support.

A memorial service for Jaimee will be held at the Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston at 2 p.m. Saturday.
