BUCHANAN, Irene Sue Hamilton, 62, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 1996, in a local hospital. She is survived by her husband, Cecil L. Buchanan; one son, George Kelsey, Roanoke; two brothers, Richard H. Fenchel Sr. of Bainbridge, N.Y., and Edward Hamilton of Horseheads, N.Y.; two sisters, Virginia Seymour and Catherine Rumsey, both of Elmira, N.Y.; also three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. DUDLEY, Charles J., 67, of Washington, D.C., died Sunday, May 5, 1996. He was formerly of Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Dudley, Harrisburg, Pa.; his children, Charles Dudley Jr., Seattle, Wash., Jacqueline Dudley, Lawrence Dudley, Deborah Thomas, all of Harrisburg, Pa.; his sisters, Dorothy Dudley, Doretha Dudley; his brother, James Lee Dudley, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Debra Donaldson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be in Washington, D.C.
FLINT, Robert Marshall Sr., 68, of 1651 W. Beverley St., #1, Staunton, died Wednesday morning, May 8, 1996, at his residence. He was born on October 12, 1927, in Natural Bridge, a son of the late Robert Henry and Emma Marshall Flint. Mr. Flint was a self-employed logger for 38 years. He was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church, Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Hostetter Flint, to whom he was married on November 27, 1945; four sons, Robert Marshall Flint Jr., Ronald Wayne ``Doc'' Flint, Gary M. Flint, and Jeffrey L. Flint, all of Staunton; five daughters, Mrs. Roger (Barbara) Fishel, Mrs. Carolyn Martin, Mrs. John (Lois) Ellinger, Mrs. Ivan (Janice) Michael, and Mrs. Randy (Emma) Landes, all of Staunton; a sister, Mrs. Frances Turbyfill of Farmville; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 1996, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Norlyn Driver Jr. Those desiring may call at the residence. GENTRY, F. M. Jim, 68, of Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Salem, Va., died at his home on May 6, 1996. Jim, a Navy veteran of World War II, was founder of Gentry Photographic Studios in Virginia. Jim's career moved from co-owner of the Salem Sheraton, Director of Tinker Mountain Workshop, and Executive Director of Lewis-Gale Medical Foundation in Salem, Va. He was Past President of Salem Rotary Club. Retirement came after ten years as District Manager in Indiana and Illinois for the United States Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Gentry, Sr. and his brother, William H. Gentry, Jr. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail; his mother, Ora C. Gentry of Salem, Va.; his daughter, Debbie and husband, Thad McCulloch of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Cindy and husband, Kevin Wickam of Penhook, Va.; stepchildren, Kathleen and husband, Curtis Cain of Clarksville, Tenn., Pamela Feick of New York, New York, and Scott Feick of Terre Haute, Indiana; brother, E. Paige Gentry and wife, Barbara of Salem, Va.; grandchildren, Ashley McCulloch, Hunter Wickam, Christopher, Justin and Benjamin Cain. HALL, Belva Smith, 80, of Shawsville, died Monday, May 6, 1996, at her home. Surviving are her husband, Charlie R. Hall; one son, Robert L. Hall; one daughter, Faye H. HAUGEN, Thomas, 42, of Lexington, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born February 22, 1954, in Staten Island, N.Y. he was the son of Olaf Haugen and Elsa Knutsen Haugen of Sun City, Fla. Mr. Haugen was a member of St. Patrick 's Catholic Church, and was a general contractor. Surviving beside his parents are his wife, Kathleen Hills Haugen, Lexington; two sons, Thomas Olaf Haugen, Lexington, Kyle Sverre Haugen, Lexington; sister, Joyce Worcester, Bar Harbor, Maine; brother, Glenn Haugen, North Brunswick, N.J.; maternal grandmother, Aasta Knutsen, Sun City Fla. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday, May 11, 1996 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father J. Morton Biber officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. JOHNSON, Clark Jackson, 54, of Pearisburg, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Pearisburg, he was a son of the late Wilmer and Minnie Pyles Johnson and a brother of the late Lacy Johnson. Surviving are one son, Bruce Windsor, Waynesboro; six brothers, Charles Johnson, Pembroke, Lewis Johnson, Odell Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Johnson and Frankie John son all of Roanoke; three sisters, Billy Katherine Overstreet, Jean Overstreet, and Frances Wilson all of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. LONG, Estes Kenneth, 74, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996. He retired from Phelps and Armistead Furniture Company and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ernestine Virginia Smith Long; brothers, Nelson Long, Hot Springs, the Rev. Garth Long, Welch, W.Va.; sisters, Goldie Lockard, Roanoke, Ilene Benser, Baltimore, Md., Violet Wiggins, Charlottesville; a number of nieces and nephews. McGEE, John James, 71, of Independence, Mo., formerly of Roanoke, Va. and New Albany, Miss., died Sunday, May 5, 1996. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from G.E. in Salem with over 25 years of service. Mr. McGee was a member of A.F. & A.M. Boone Lodge #0247, member of D.C. Shanks Royal Arch Chapter #31, and Botetourt Chapter #135 O.E.S. Mr. McGee was also a member of the Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, Wirtz, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Davis and Laura Hickman McGee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Floretta Clarkson McGee, Independence, Mo.; two children, Maria C. McGee, Independence, Mo., Edward L. McGee, Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Daniel, Mary Montgomery and husband, Bobby Montgomery, all of New Albany, Miss.; one brother, George Lewis and wife, Mabel McGee, Ecru, Miss.; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews. PARR, Nancy Teass 73, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 1996, in the Medical Care Center, Lynchburg. She was born August 7, 1922, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Edward Francis Teass and Nannie Teass Teass. Her husband was the late Edward V. Parr. She was a member of the Main Street United M ethodist Church. She is survived by a niece, Sara Catherine Teass Saunders, Bedford; a stepson, James E. Parr, Amherst; a stepdaughter, Arleen Parr, Amherst; two stapgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 10, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Dr. Carl Douglass. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
