An umbrella group that has served as the legislative arm of the civil rights movement since 1950 has tapped the NAACP's Washington lobbyist to become its new executive director.
Wade Henderson, 48, is scheduled to join the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights next month. The conference consists of 180 organizations representing minorities, women, labor, gays, people with disabilities, the elderly and major religious groups.
