ANDERSON, Gaston C., 89, of Roanoke, died Wednesday evening, May 8, 1996, in the Skyline Nursing Home of Floyd. He was a retired farmer and a former resident of Meadows of Dan. He was a member of Conners View Primitive Baptist Church and served on the Board of Trustees for many years. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Fanny Boyd Anderson of Roanoke; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sherman and Mary Anderson and Lassie and Mildred Anderson, all of Mt. Airy, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Anderson of Elerbee, N.C. and Lala Boyd of Meadows of Dan; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Maude Shelor of Floyd; and one foster son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Marjorie Richards of Martinsville. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Conners View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder James Vipperman and Elder J. B. Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. CARNIOL, Sandra Goad, 50, of 108 Lake Ridge Drive, Forest, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at her home. She was the wife of Glenn Carniol. Mrs. Carniol was born December 5, 1945, in Dry Fork to the late Perry Goad and Hattie Murphy Goad. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, and a former elementary school teacher. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Justin Mitchell Carniol, and a daughter, Jessica Mary Carniol, both of Lynchburg; three sisters, Clara Oakes of Danville, Pauline Evans of Lakeland, Fla., and Joyce Starmont of North Carolina, and two brothers, Mac Goad and Earl Goad, both of Danville. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren, Paul and Osbey Goad. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Woodall-Tharp Chapel, with the Rev. James Moon officiating. COX, Flora Bell Dinkle, 87, of Bedford, died Thursday, May 9, 1996 at Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bedford County on June 25, 1908, a daughter of the late Clifford Baxter Dinkle and Nannie Bell Ashwell Dinkle. She was a member of Morgans Baptist Church, Ladies Friendship Sunday School Class and retired from Moneta Dress Factory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Clarence Albert Cox, a daughter-in-law, Matleen Morgan Cox and a granddaughter, Carolyn Cox Lawhorn, two brothers, Willie O. Dinkle, Cliford B. Dinkle and two sisters, Louella Dinkle and Florence D. Blankenship. She is survived by three sons, John Albert (Boat) Cox, Roy Calvin Cox and Malcolm Ralph (Mack) Cox, all of Bedford; two daughters, Nancy Gaynelle Cox Tuck of Moneta and Jacqueline Lee Cox (Jackie) Woolwine of Bedford; four brothers, Elsworth Dinkle of Hurt, Burford B. Dinkle, Thurston Dinkle, both of Moneta and Ray Dinkle of South Carolina; three sisters, Erma D. Stanaitis of Lynchburg, Myrtle D. Burnett and Lucille D. Morgan, both of Huddleston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews, also a special friend, Mildred Bragg. CRAIG, Earl Richard, Sr., 71, of Salem, went home to Heaven on Thursday, May 9, 1996, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was veteran of WW II, where he served his country for 3 years and was awarded the Metal of Honor. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Martin Craig; six children, Earl Richard Craig Jr., Ann Heptinstall, Richard Wayne Craig, Sandra Mischianti, Linda Francisco, and R.J. Martin; two sisters, Dorthory Salmon, Gladys Gray; five granddaughters; one grandson; and two stepgrandsons. A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly of God on 4th St., Salem at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11. DALTON, Ted D., 51, of Winston-Salem, N.C., formerly of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in a Winston-Salem, N.C. nursing home. Surviving are his wife, Julia E. Dalton; daughters, Mrs. Lori D. DANNER, John Edward, Sr., 81, of Rt. 1, Max Meadows, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in the Malin Health Care Center. He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late Charles Edward and Lillie Mae Aga Danner. He was a prominent Wythe County farmer, a member of Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and treasurer, served on the board of directors of Southern States Co-Op, and was a charter member of the Max Meadows Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Simmerman Danner. He is survived by three sons, John Edward Danner Jr. of Wilkesboro, N.C., David R. Danner of Max Meadows, Harry W. Danner of Wytheville; four grandchildren, Kimberly Danner Musser of Staunton, Ray Danner of Max Meadows, Brian E. Danner of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Katie Danner of Wytheville; one great-grandson, Justin Tyler Musser of Staunton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 1996, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vaughan Earl Hartsell and Mr. Olin Armentrout officiating. DEEL, Leslie Romulus, 79, of Fincastle, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at the Richfield Nursing Center in Salem. Born November 21, 1916, he was a son of the late John William and Pearl Obenchain Deel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for the Norfolk and Western Railway and the U.S. Forest Service. He was a lifetime farmer and was well known for his produce in the Nace Community and the Roanoke City Market. He retired from farming in 1985. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Leslie Deel, who passed away in 1994. Surviving are his wife, Lucy Coleman Deel of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Toppel of Hollins, Judy Mills of the home; and son-in-law, Ron Mills of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Susan Deel of Russell, Pa. (formerly of Waynesboro), Larry and Sandy Deel of Salem; a daughter-in-law, Lula Deel of Salem; one sister, Violet Ireton of Cockeysville, Md.; one brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Louise Deel of Rock Hill, S.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. DENT, Joseph B., Sr., Professor, 91, of Petersburg, died Monday, May 6, 1996. He was born in Wythe County on August 14, 1904, and was the son of the late Charles Lee Dent and Bettie Jackson Dent. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Jackson Dent of Pulaski; and by his wife, Hilda C. Dent. Mr. Dent will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. The family of Professor Joseph B. GOSE, Irene P., 85, of Wytheville, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She had taught for forty-one years and four months in the Wythe County Schools, most at Spiller Elementary. She is survived by three sisters and their families, Mrs. Ruth P. Humphrey of Rural Retreat, Valeria P. Copenhaver, of Kegley Manor, Bastian, and Mrs. Doris P. Grubb of Rural Retreat. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial s ervice will be conducted at Grubb Funeral Home 2 p.m. Saturday by Dr.. Charles Burnett. The family will receive friends an hour before the ceremony. GREENWAY, Raymond Richard, 75, of Fincastle died Monday, May 6, 1996. Mr. Greenway was a locksmith for the Royal Oak Public School System for over 26 years and a World War II Veteran in the Second Armored Division under General Patton and was also involved in the European Campaign. He was a member of the Royal Oak Elks, The Clawson Masonic Trelum Lodge #552 F. & A. M. and a Moslum Shrine Temple Detroit where he was a 32 degree Mason. Mr. Greenway is survived by his wife, Marge C. Southerland-Greenway of Fincastle; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Al Chumick of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Marsha Greenway, of Royal Oak, Mich., Joan and Fred Patenaude, of Royal Oak, Mich.; two step sons and their wives, Bob R. and Mary Kay Southerland Jr., of Royal Oak, Mich., Richard G. and Rebecca Southerland, Shelby Twp., Mich.; two step daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Wilson Webb, Marty and John Seemann, all of Fincastle; one brother, Nick Greenway, of Lobdel Lake, Mich.; and eleven grandchildren. HELFRICH, Mary J. Brown, 71, of Glen Mills, Pa., died Saturday, May 4, 1996, at her home. Born in Roanoke, Va., she was a daughter of the late Elijah Brazelton and Martha J. Junkin Brown. PEDIGO, Louise Virginia, 98, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996. She was born in Patrick County, Va., February 6, 1898, the daughter of D. T. and Delia H. (Foley) Pedigo. She attended public school at Woolwine, Va., and belonged to the Woolwine United Methodist Church. She graduated from Ferrum High School and taught in the Ferrum branch school system in Franklin, Floyd and Patrick Counties. During vacation months, she attended Farmville Teacher's College (now Longwood College), from which she received a Professional Teacher's Certificate. After several years of teaching, she resigned from the public school system and entered Roanoke National Business College, where she graduated as a stenographer in 1925. She then went to Washington, D.C., where she was employed for the remaining years of her working career. For the last 26 years prior to retirement, she was with the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. After retirement at the age of 65, Miss Pedigo returned to Roanoke and become a resident of Shenandoah Homes, a retirement home and adult care center. She was also an active member of the Patrick-Henry Allied Families of Virginia, Inc. She is survived by five nephews, Earl B. Pedigo, Robert D. Pedigo, William T. Pedigo, Debbs Pedigo and Seldon Pedigo; two nieces, Jean P. Nelson and Sharen P. Motley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 1996, from the Woolwine United Methodist Church, Woolwine, Va. The Rev. Mike Plasters will officiate. REYNOLDS, Robert Lee, 64, of Penhook, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996. He was a son of the late William Goggin and Nannie R. Reynolds, and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Perry Douglas Brown, III, a brother, William S. Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds retired from E. I. DuPont with 22 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Ruby O. Reynolds; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Charles Wyatt, Penhook, Nancy R. and Donald W. Cannaday, Ferrum, Norma R. and Perry Brown, Jr., Penhook; his grandchildren, D. J. Cannaday, Derek W. Wyatt, Deanna and Robert L. ROBERTSON, Albert, of Bedford, departed this life on Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at his residence. He was the son of the late Henry and Madge Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Hester Marie Robertson, Bedford; one daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Anderson; two sons, Albert Michael (Evelyn) Robertson and Marcus Robertson, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; seven sisters; and three brothers; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Lebanon Methodist Church at Hoges Chapel, and was a member of Castle Rock Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Pembroke. He was a devoted ""Hokie"" fan of VPI sports and a faithful Braves booster. He earned a living for his family as a master carpenter. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva Sarver, Lena Coates, and Mamie Smith; and a brother, Emory Smith. Surviving are his wife, Mable Atkins Smith; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bob Belcher of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Patricia and Tom McGinn of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Heather and Patrick McGinn of Bridgewater and Aaron Shaver of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Nancy White of Narrows. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke with the Rev. Eddie Kendall and the Rev. Max Brown officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday, and military rites at the graveside Saturday.

She is survived by a beloved and devoted niece, Ann Huff-Hall of Rochester, N.Y.; cousin, James Poindexter of Palo Alto, Calif.; a host of nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. WOLFE, Ray, 72, of 402 Marquis Street, Staunton, died at 1 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 1996, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Wolfe was born April 8, 1924, in Pulaski, Ky., a son of Nelson and Kansas Daniels. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations where he received the Purple Heart Medal. He had retired from American Safety Razor and was a member of the Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Myrtis Ann Gragg Wolfe; a daughter, Dr. Gloria Whitehurst of Marina Del Ray, Calif., and formerly of Blacksburg; a granddaughter, Kelly Michele Whitehurst of Richmond; a brother, William H. Daniels of Round Lake, Ill., and two sisters, Gloria Pruden of Audubon, N.J., and Gleemus Daniels Dumbro of Wilmington, Del. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. John A. Abe. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW. YEATTS, Shirley Robert, of Bent Mountain, passed away Thursday, May 9, 1996 in a local hospital. Mr. Yeatts was retired. He was predeceased by his parents, Virgil and Ethel Yeatts, and sister, Geraldine Dooley. Surviving are his wif e, Bette Yeatts; daughter, Tiffany Yeatts, Bent Mountain; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bill and Christine Cornette, Roanoke, Phyllis and Archie Collins, Salem; three nephews; two nieces; including a special nephew, Paul Yeatts and wife, Debbie of Salem; three aunts, Chloe Robertson, Salem, Arlene Turner, Floyd, Claris and Sparrel Turner, Floyd. Graveside services will be held at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Greg Mills officiating.
