More reservists ordered to Bosnia
WASHINGTON - The Army said Friday it has called to active duty another 1,690 National Guard and Reserve units from 19 states to relieve reservists serving in support of the NATO-led peace enforcement mission in Bosnia.
In addition to the extra reservists being mobilized now, another 2,100 or so are expected to get the call in coming weeks as units now in the Balkans and Germany reach the end of their 270-day tours of duty, the Army said.
Those called up in the latest mobilization are from a variety of units, including public affairs, transportation, finance, civil affairs, military police and engineering.

Court throws out asbestos settlement
PHILADELPHIA - A federal appeals court threw out a $1.3 billion asbestos settlement Friday, saying the claims from up to 100,000 victims are so diverse they cannot be combined under one lawsuit.
The three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also said it was unfair to impose the settlement on people who were exposed to asbestos but have not yet become ill.
In its 69-page ruling, the appeals court canceled the settlement and returned the case to the district court. The court also cleared the way for plaintiffs who had joined the settlement to file individual lawsuits.
