NAMES & CHANGES

Architectural business expanding

Sherertz Franklin Crawford Shaffner Inc., a Roanoke architectural, engineering, planning and interior design firm, has added four architects and two engineers to its staff. DREW KEPLEY, KEVIN A. DECK, KERRY D. BUCK and MICHAEL ELIA have joined the architectural department; and GREGORY D. HENSLEY and TODD D. BRANDT have joined the structural engineering staff.

Kepley formerly worked for Paul Rudolph Architects in New York and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Washington, D.C. Deck came to SFCS from Motley + Associates in Roanoke. Buck most recently worked for Samaha Associates in Fairfax. Elia has worked for several firms in upstate New York. Hensley has joined the firm from Geurin Engineering Inc. in Tulsa, Okla. Brandt comes to SFCS after receiving his bachelor of architectural engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1995.

COLLEEN M. MARSTON has joined Balzer and Associates Inc., planners, architects, engineers and surveyors based in Roanoke, as an accountant. Marston comes to the firm after six years in public accounting.

BANKING

STEVE DOWNIE has been named manager of regional commercial banking at First Citizens Bank in Bedford, where he is a vice president.

COLLEGES

ZOE THEODOR has been named director of alumni affairs at Hollins College. The 1993 Hollins graduate comes from IBM Corp. in Atlanta, where she worked as a project manager.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT|

DOUG CHITTUM has been promoted to economic development administrator for Roanoke. An eight-year employee of the city's development office, he has assumed the position formerly held by PHIL SPARKS, who is now chief of the office.

FIBER OPTICS

PAUL OH, vice president of sales-Far East and Pacific Area, Optical Cable Corp. in Roanoke, has been elected to a one-year term on the technology cooperation and development committee of Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association based in Rockville, Md. The committee provides technical consulting services to Korean industries.

GOVERNMENT

MALFOURD W. "BO" TRUMBO, a Republican state senator from Fincastle, has been named a member of the law and justice committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures.

HOSPITALITY|

TOBIAS OLSEN-SCHOCH has been named convention services manager and CANDY SHANK has been appointed catering sales manager at the Roanoke Airport Marriott hotel. Olsen-Schoch most recently was banquet manager at the Roanoke Marriott. Shank has 22 years of hotel experience, having previously been employed with Holiday Inn and the Hilton Corp.

INSURANCE|

WILL C. ANDREWS has joined the Roanoke office of Richmond-based Lawyers Title Insurance Corp. as a sales representative. Andrews, who has 25 years of banking experience, was senior vice president of the Commercial National Bank in Pulaski. He previously held positions with the Bank of Essex in Tappahannock and CorEast in Roanoke as vice president. Also at Lawyers Title, JOHN L. BANE has been employed as title examiner. Bane, who has been an agent for the company since 1988, was president of the Title Research Group which specialized in title examinations for residential development and commercial real estate.

LESLIE E. HAGIE, R. NEAL KEESEE JR., FRANCIS H. CASOLA, DIANE M. BAUN, KEVIN S. BLAIR and ANTHONY H. MONIOUDIS have been named principals in the Roanoke-based law firm of Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove. Hagie, Kessee, Casola, Baun and Blair joined the firm in 1988, and Monioudis joined the firm in 1991. In addition to its Roanoke office, Woods Rogers & Hazlegrove has offices in Charlottesville, Danville and Washington, D.C.
