The plaster front wall of her home on Janie Lane had been shoved back into place, but still showed cracks after its untimely meeting with what police are calling a stolen 1994 Chrysler LeBaron convertible early Saturday.
Blacksburg police have not arrested two suspects who apparently got away after the car was stolen from a home in the Shenandoah subdivision, then taken on a wild ride in town.
According to police, two calls came in about 5 a.m. reporting the car, spotted first in Caboose Park on Turner Street. Within minutes, a police officer spotted the car at nearby Patrick Henry and North Main streets, and began to follow.
The driver of the LeBaron turned into a nearby apartment complex, where, according to a police news release, "the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle, fleeing on foot in different directions as the officer pulled up behind the vehicle."
The police gave chase once again, this time on foot, and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office also brought in a K-9 dog unit to search.
Meanwhile, the suspects had left the car running. According to police, it rolled over one curb, went down an embankment, crossed a parking lot, sideswiped a car, rolled over another curb, and landed in Julie Nenninger's town house.
Nenninger said the house shook and glass broke.
"It was just a very interesting morning," she said later.
Police estimated damage to the house at $10,000 and to the car at $3,000.
